Conaway--Fleming

The wedding of Miss Ethel L. Fleming, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter O. Fleming, Winfield, to Jay W. Conaway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay E. Conaway, Winfield, took place, Saturday afternoon at three o'clock in the Winfield Church of God, Bethel, amid a setting of palms and garden flowers. A former pastor of the bride, Rev. C. O. Sullivan, Frederick, performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, and wore a gown with a brocaded satin bodice with a net covered skirt, designed with a high neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. A finger tip veil caught with a white beaded crown complemented the costume. The bridal bouquet was composed of white carnations and baby's breath.

Miss Mildred Gue, Mount Airy, was matron of honor and was attired in pastel pink net with shoulder length veil falling from a halo of flowers. She carried an old fashioned bouquet, tied with blue ribbon.

Miss Hazel Pickett, Washington, D. C., cousin of the bride, and Miss Mary Louise Barth, Woodbine, were bridesmaids, and were in costumes of pastel blue and duplicated in style the matron of honor. Both carried old-fashioned bouquets tied with pink ribbon.

Earnest Fleming, Woodbine, was best man. The ushers were Leroy Conaway, brother of the groom, and Norman Pickett, Woodbine, cousin of the bride.

The flower girl, Deanna Sprague, Quantico, Virginia, niece of the bride, wore a miniature gown of blue. She carried a basket of old-fashioned flowers, from which she strewed the flowers to the alter.

A half-hour musical program was given by Mr. Ralph Rexroth, organist, and Mr. Paul Matz, soloist, both of Baltimore. Mr. Rexroth played, "Londonderry Air" "Old Refrain", and "Andante Cantabile", by Widor. Mr. Matz sang "O Perfect Love" and "I Love You Truly".

The bride's mother was attired in pastel blue and wore a corsage of white carnations and baby's breath.

The groom's mother wore floral jersey with a corsage of white carnations and baby's breath.

The groom served in the armed forces during the war, in the 14th Air Force, CBI Theater, and was in the service three years.

After the wedding ceremony, the bride's parents served a wedding supper at there home to the following guests:

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Conaway, Leroy Conaway, Mildred Pickett, Norman Pickett, Rev. and Mrs. C. O. Sullivan and son, Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Myers, Ralph Rexroth, Paul Matz, Mrs. Florence Pickett, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fleming, MT/Sgt. and Mrs. Clinton Sprague and children, Deanna, Warren, Ray, Sonja, Jean, and Harold, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E.
