Rhonda Kay Giesler, 63, of Olathe, KS., passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Rhonda was born on May 30, 1951 in Nevada, Missouri to Leslie and Evelyn (Jones) Flewelling. She attended and graduated from Raytown High School.

She married her husband Thomas E Giesler October 17th 1977.

She worked full time at B/E Aerospace for over 30 years and also worked part time at JCCC for many years. While she was working two jobs she took care of all her father's medical needs including driving to Eldorado Springs, MO to pick him up and drive him back to Kansas City for his doctors appointments. She took care of him until his death on 1997. Her greatest joy was raising her children. She loved spending time with her family and her friends. She took care of her mom and her little sister, Mary. She enjoyed shopping, camping at the lake, and the float trips she had with her girlfriends. She also enjoyed trips with her husband which included going to Colorado multiple times, a Caribbean cruise, South Padre Island, TX, Mexico and many more. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving as she prepared the feast for her family. Rhonda was a very caring person with a very big heart. She always put others first before herself. When someone needed something she was always there to give it to them whether it be a hug, a smile, someone to just listen to or clothes because someone couldn’t afford them. She was always there to give and it showed her loving heart in return. She was diagnosed with OPCA in 2002.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her father Leslie Flewelling.? ? Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years Tom Giesler of the home, mother Evelyn Flewelling of Olathe, Kansas, four sons; Clevand H. Bellamy and his wife Julie of Olathe, KS., Tim L. Bellamy of Olathe, KS., Lance Harris of Ottawa, KS., Steven Harris and his wife Stephanie of Blue Springs, MO., three daughters; Tommi Giesler of Olathe, KS., Nanette King and her husband Michael of Richmond, KS. and Beryl Pippert of Olathe, KS. Rhonda is also survived by her two brothers; Gary Flewelling and his wife Earlene of Independence, Missouri , Ronnie Flewelling and his wife Edel of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, two sisters; LeAnn Lane and Mary Flewelling. Left behind to cherish her memory are her 20 grandchildren; Zayden Giesler, Jordan Pippert, Ashlyn Kuykendall, Austin Bellamy, Domonick Bellamy, Zackary Bellamy, Makenzee Bellamy, Delaney Bellamy, Pasiley Bellamy, Thomas Conaway, Paul Conaway (Kat), Chaz King, Tryston Harris, Cooper Harris, Dylan Harris, Donny Harris, Victoria Harris, Biance Harris, Chande Jones and Cory Jones. She will be sadly missed by her four great grandchildren; Rose Kuykendall, Thomas Kuykendall, Julie Anne Clough and Katalynia Clough.

Rhonda will be cremated according to her wishes. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. She was a member of Sacred heart Catholic church and enjoyed camping. Survivors include six sons, Clarence "Peanut" and wife Rosie, Frank and wife Kathy all of North Sioux City, Stephen and wife Cindy of TX, Eugene of Sioux City, Joe and wife Brenda of Ariz., John of Miss; seven daughters, Kristie (Doug) Macgregor, Laura Libby all of North Sioux City, Donna(Robert)Keairns Sr., Debra (Greg) Johns, Mary (Eugene"Bugs") Worden, all of Sioux City, Judy (Roger) Barber of Ore., Carin (Steve) Stricker of Mo; 64 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Stern of McCook Lake, Kenneth (Clara) Strom of Sioux City. BERTHA SMITH DEAD

Widow of Joseph Smith Passes Away This Forenoon.

Mrs. Bertha Smith, widow of the late Joseph Smith of Orange township, died this forenoon of a complication of diseases at the home in Orange. A couple of days ago the young woman gave birth to a little girl, which is living and bids fair to survive and become a healthy infant. The death is rendered all the more sorrowful because of the death of the father only a short time ago, about seven weeks.

Decedent was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clate D. Flickinger of Orange township. She was a very amiable young woman and affectionate to parents. She was a student for several years at the Waterloo college, and has a wide acquaintance over the county. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Progressive Brethren church. Besides the parents, a sister, Miss Pearl, is left to mourn her untimely death.

The funeral services will be held at the home of the decedent's parents on Sunday afternoon.

Clayton D. Flickinger
Clayton D. Flickinger, a resident of Black Hawk county for 76 years, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at his home on Hammond avenue, a mile south of the Waterloo city limits, after a long illness. He was 79 years old.

Clayton Flickinger was born Mar. 21, 1858, in Somerset county, Penn., son of James and Caroline Flickinger. He came to Iowa with his parents when he was three years old, settling in Orange township.

On Dec. 31, 1881 he was married to Mary C. Strickler at the present home. Mr. Flickinger farmed for many years, retiring in 1902. He was a member of the First Brethren church, Waterloo.

Surviving are the wife; a daughter, Mr. Oliver G. Smith, 1312 Williston avenue; a sister, Mrs. E. B. Miller, Orange township; a brother, John, Tracy, Minn; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ruth Hauser, 118 Williston avenue, Mrs. Lavelle Smith, 644 Eleventh street west, Mrs. E. M. Luhm, Duluth, Minn., and Virginia Smith at the Flickinger home; five great grandchildren.

A daughter, Bertha, preceded him in death.

A private prayer service for the family will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns Garden chapel, followed by services at 2 p.m. at First Brethren church. The family asks flowers not be sent.

     Maud Estella Flickinger was born in March 1877 at Crawford Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew H. Flickinger and Addie Ida Luke.¹

     Pearl Agnes Flickinger was born on 18 October 1883 at Black Hawk Co., IA.¹ She was the daughter of Clayton Daniel Flickinger and Mary Catharine Strickler.¹ Pearl Agnes Flickinger married Oliver Garfield Smith, son of Eli John Smith and Anna Margaret Dage, on 10 May 1905 at Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA. Pearl Agnes Flickinger lived on 12 January 1920 at Orange Twp., Black Hawk Co., IA, farming.² She died on 11 May 1980 at Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., IA, at age 96.
