Donald Herbert Fogelsanger, 84, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Born Jan. 16, 1934, he was a son of the late Reuben and Martha Hartman Fogelsanger.
Don was a 1951 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He continued his education at Elizabethtown College, earning his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, graduating in 1955. Don then attended Bethany Theological Seminary and earned his master’s degree in Divinity, graduating in 1959. He served 50 years in the ministry leading congregations of the Churches of the Brethren in Altoona, PA; Lebanon, Pennsylvania; Harrisonburg, Virginia; and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. After his retirement, he served as Interim Pastor in the Church of the Brethren Churches in Greencastle and Shippensburg. Don was also a past president of the Brethren Home Board, served on the Camp Eder Board, and was the moderator of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren Southern District. Don volunteered with different organizations such as the Chambersburg Hospital as Chaplain, Habitat for Humanity, the Exchange Club, Izaak Walton League, Shenandoah Valley Horseman Association, and Valley Heritage Farm Co-Op. He served as president of the Brethren Ministerial Association, as Pastoral Counselor for Home and Family Life Commission for the district, and as chairman of Church Extension Commission and was a member of the Old Chimney Camp. He also volunteered in Disaster Relief, as a Youth Camp counselor, and as a District Youth Counselor. Don established a Service Scholarship at Elizabethtown College. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a great joke and storyteller.
Don dedicated his life to serving the Lord and he loved people. He lived by the motto, “To Give is to Live.”
He is survived by his wife of six years, Betty Mangle Fogelsanger; his children, Debbie Shilling (husband, Stan) of Chambersburg, Cheri Hamilton (husband, Gregg) of Chambersburg, and Kim Crowley, (husband, Jim) of Cambridge, Maryland; six grandchildren, Bradley Shilling (fiancée, Kelley), Jonathan Shilling (wife, Valerie), Simon Egan (wife, Shannon), Christina Crowley, Samantha Crowley, and Amy Crowley; four stepchildren, Michael Cramer (Deborah), Loretta Clugh, Stephen Cramer (Sharon), Gary Cramer (fiancée, Robin Mull); six stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jay Fogelsanger, of Hanover, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Kann Fogelsanger; and his siblings, Millie Long, Robert Fogelsanger, and Kenneth Fogelsanger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. 4th St., Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Pastor Joel Nogle will officiate. Private interment will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. The family will receive friends at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018.

Kenneth E. Fogle, 88 of Salesville, passed away Saturday (Oct 10, 2009) at is residence. He was born on April 24, 1921 in Noble County to the late Walter and Jane (Morrison) Fogle. Mr. Fogle served in the 123 AAA Gun Battalion in World War II, the European Theatre from 1943-1945, under the command of George Patton.
He retired from Randall Plastice in 1984, and was a long time farmer. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed coon hunting, watching football, making apple butter in the fall with his family and woodworking. He was a member of Middlebourne Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Virginia Faye (Watson) Fogle, whom he married on Nov. 29, 1941, and who passed away Sept 2, 1976; three brothers, Carl, Richard and Donald Fogle; two sisters, Norreen Bates and Ileen Fogle; and stepson, John W. Carter. He is survived by his wife Helen (Laughman-Carter) Fogle of Salesville, whom he married in September of 1977; two daughters, Brenda (Bob) Smith and Vicky (Richard) Starr; a son, Bill (Judith) Fogle; seven stepchildren, Debbie (Dave) Harper, Pamela (Frank) Yakupcak, Patricia Douglas; Ruth Carter, Theresa (Danny) Morrill, Kathy (Tim) Jones and Janet (Danny) Crawford; seven grandchildren, Mike (Staci) Smith, Greg (Chrystal) Smith, Renee (Jeff) Eley, Jennifer (George) Wilson, Jason (Julie) Smith, Laura Fogle and Stephanie (Mike) Neuhart; step grandson, James Starr; 27 step grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Baker, Jeremy (Heidi) Harper, Jessica (Travis) Fulton, Justin (Amanda) Harper, Janelle Black, Janie (Jonniesue) Harper, Jason Giesey, Jared Giesey, Frank Yakupcak, Katrina Douglas, Angela Douglas, Karen Carter, Heather Carter, Kimberly (James) Good, Kristin (Chris) Dennis, Dustin Morrill, Quentin Paden, Tressa Paden, Skler Jones, Sawyer Jones, Nicole Brothers, Joshua (Tasha) Brothers, Kayla (Mike) Brothers, John Brothers, Ben (Katie) Crawford, Nathan (Lisa) Crawford and lance (Brooke) Crawford; 35 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence (Thelma) and Charlie (Ruth) Fogle; brothers-in-law, John and Jim Laughman; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Neuhart.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) with funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, with the Rev. Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
