ELMO M. FORNEY
Elmo M. Forney, 75, who resided at the home of his niece, Mrs. Austin Noble, 221 North George street, died this morning at 2:45 o'clock in the Hanover General Hospital, where he was a patient one day. He had been ill one week. He was a son of the late Ezra W. and Ada Snodgrass Forney and retired 25 years ago as a silk weaver, his wife, Fannie Hamm Forney, died seven years ago. Surviving is one brother, Abner E. Forney, 19 Pleasant street. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the William A. Feiser funeral home, Carlisle Street. The Rev. Dr. Harry Hursh Beidleman, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Feiser funeral home.

John Forney, 88, of Oxford, died September 28, 2005. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM in Allen Memorial UMC in Oxford. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, he attended Manchester College and taught high school before being drafted into the Army in 1940. He served as an instructor during WWII and after the war completed a PhD in microbiology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. In Los Angeles, CA, he taught at the University of Southern California and was assistant Director of the LA City Public Health Department laboratory, before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1963 to take a position as a public health laboratory consultant at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 1967, Congress passed the Clinical Laboratories Improvement Act which required all laboratories operating in interstate commerce to have a federal license. As a part of the Federal oversight, he developed a laboratory safety program and presented over 100 laboratory safety workshops in the US and overseas. After retiring, he continued with traveling, gardening and community commitments to Allen Memorial UMC, the Oxford Historical Society, and the Oxford Historical Cemetery where he will be buried. He is survived by his wife, Martha, 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Arrangements by Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, Covington.

Born September 5, 1929, in Penn Township, York Co., she was a daughter of the late Claude L. and Florence (Saltzgiver) Forney.

Mrs. Williams was employed for 10 years with Snyders of Hanover and Utz Potato Chip Co., Hanover. After raising her family, Louise returned to work with Hanover Pen Co. and last, with Hanover Shoe Co. until her retirement.

She was a member of Trinity U.C.C., Hanover.

Surviving are two daughters, Starlett L. Hood and husband, Eric A., and Michelle K. Williams, both of Hanover; one sister, Shirley Mickley of Hanover; and one granddaughter and one grandson, Kaybrea S. Hood and Austin E. Hood.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Levere Forney, and ex-husband, Charles E. Williams.

Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.

HANOVER - Louise M. Wagner, 88, of Hanover, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday at Hanover Hospital. She was the wife of Herbert C. Wagner, to whom she was married for 44 years.
The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wagner was born July 12, 1910, in Hanover. She was the daughter of the late William B. and Maggie M. (Schievert) Forney.
She was a cashier at the former Montgomery Ward Store in Hanover, retiring in 1967 after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Mrs. Wagner also is survived by a brother, Beecher W. Forney of Albuquerque, N.M.
Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Eric P. Wogen.

Note: Lucy was the one that gave permission to remove the remains of Henry and Mary Catherine Dewald from the St. Matthew Lutheran Church graveyard and reinter them at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. This permission given shortly before her death.
