FORNEY, PALMER E., 72, of Largo, died Wednesday (April 23, 1997) at Columbia Largo Medical Center. He came here in 1989 from his native Waterloo, Iowa, where he retired as a detective after 35 years with the Waterloo Police Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served 30 years in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, Waterloo, and Elks Lodge 1224, St. Petersburg.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Gloria V; four daughters, Sandra Summers and Sara Reynolds, both of Seminole, Sharon Koenig, Tampa, and Susan Wilson, Sylva, N.C; a brother, Loren Forney, Basye, Va; a sister, Betty Carlson, Waterloo; and three grandchildren, Matt, Chris and Amy Wilson, all of Seminole. Mrs. Harlan J. Brooks of California, formerly Miss Ruth Forney and well known in North Manchester, is visiting with the family of her uncle, Rev. W. H. Shull and other friends. She is accompanied by her two daughters, Betty jean and Margaret. Mr. Brooks is in camp work in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. The Brooks family expects to sail for India in October, where they will begin their second term of seven years in the missionary field.

Margaret is a graduate of North Manchester College, Ind. She will teach in Villa Park next year.

This Sunday the Brook's will speak in the Covina Church of the Brethren in the morning and at the La Verne Church of the Brethren in the evening.

Shirley M. Mickley, 80, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Born on Wednesday, February 21, 1934 in Bachman Valley, MD, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Florence Saltzgiver Forney. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alan R. Beaver who died in 2012, a brother Levere Forney and a sister, Louise Williams.

Mrs. Mickley had been employed by Hanover Shoe, Black and Decker and Cremer Florist for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and had previously held memberships with Hanover Home Association and the AmVets Post #22, and the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14. A skilled gardener, she enjoyed working outside in the dirt rather than being indoors. She also enjoyed sewing and making crafts.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra E. Garland and her husband, John of Hanover, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

The family will receive friends at a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday, March 17, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. A graveside service will follow at 11 am at Marburg Memorial Gardens with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating.

She was buried in March 2014 at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, York Co., PA, Findagrave #126305118.

William Robert “Will” Forney Sr., age 74, of Union Bridge, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born November 8, 1944 in Libertytown, he was the son of the late Levere and Grace Keeney Forney. He was the husband of Sandy Forney, his wife of 54 years.

Will was a self-employed truck driver for 40 years. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son and grandsons, fishing, camping, helping his daughter at horse shows, and working on his dump truck.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Tammy Forney-Hayden and partner Brian Stonesifer of Taneytown; son, William R. Forney Jr. and wife Lisa of Union Bridge; three grandsons, Sean Forney and wife Rosie, Brandon Forney and Lance Hayden; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Gabriella, Willy and Easton Forney; brother, Roy L. Forney and wife Millis of Union Bridge; aunt, Betty Albaugh; nieces and nephew, Tina Forney, Peggy Garber and husband Dwayne and Roy Forney II and wife Sherri; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, on Sunday, May 12 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. Richard Baker, pastor of Messiah United Methodist Church, Taneytown, will officiate. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster.

Bergenfield -- The marriage of Miss Anna L. Forest of Howard Drive, daughter of Mrs. Fletcher Bliss Forrest of Bellwood, Pa., and the late Dr. Forrest, to William Wulbern (sic) Burfeindt, son of Mrs. Sophia Fiegiger of Leonia, and the late Charles Burfeindt, was solemnized at 8 P. M. last night in the Teanick Presbyterian Church, West Englewood.

The Rev. Herbert C. Willenburg officiated. Nelson M. Doescher, musical director of the Teanick schools, presented a recital before the ceremony. Irving White of Palisades Park was a vocal soloist.

Escorted by the Rev. Henry J. Smith, pastor of the North Washington Baptist Church, Washington, D. C., who assisted in the ceremony. The bride wore a gown of Nile green satin and Chantilly lace, fashioned on princess lines, having a fitted bodice of French illusion, with lace yoke and flange collar, long pointed sleeves, and a full satin and lace skirt ending in a train. Her veil of tulle was attached to a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a colonial bouquet of fleurs d, amour, eucharis lilies, and bouvardia.

Mrs. James M. Mathers of Altoona, Pa., was matron of honor for her sister. She wore a gown of white moire taffeta and carried orchid colored chrysanthemums in
shape of a heart.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Charles Steiner of New Milford, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Dorothy Farquharson of Ridgefield Park. They wore white taffeta gowns and carried heart-shaped bouquets of yellow carnations.
Best man was Harry Cutaia of Leonia. Ushers were Joseph S. LaMer, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, James M. Mathers, brother-in-law of the bride, Harvey Mims and Emil J. Meyer.

A reception for over 200 guests was held at Sergeant Clendenon Newell American Legion Post 1 Hall in Leonia.

The bride is a graduate of the American University, Washington, D.C., where she was a member of Beta Beta Beta, national biological fraternity; and the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing, Baltimore, Md. She received her M. A. degree in hospital administration at the Teachers College, Columbia University, and is attending hospital administration classes at the School of Public Health, Columbia. She served with the Army Nurse Corps and was discharged with the rank of captain.

She is a member of the American Nurses Association, National League of Nursing Education, American Association of University Women, Reserve Officers Corps, and is finance officer of the Bergen County Women's American Legion Post 208.

The bridegroom served with the Army Air Forces in the Southwest Pacific for 4 years and is associated with the Automatic Gas Heating and Appliance Company of Leonia.

After a wedding trip, the couple will reside at Saddle-Wood Hills, Hillsdale.

Anna Lydia Forrest lived on 7 March 1950 at Hillsdale, Bergen Co., NJ. She died on 1 December 1966 at Venice, Sarasota Co., FL, at age 53

Anna F. Burfeindt
Mrs. Anna (Forrest) Burfeindt, a native of Bellwood, residing at 302 Madara Court, North Port Charlotte, Venice, Fla., died Dec. 9 in the Venice Hospital.

She was born Dec. 15, 1912 a daughter of Dr. Fletcher B. and Pearl (Grove) Forrest and on Dec. 15, 1949 married William W. Burfeindt, residing in Hillsdale, N.J., until two years ago.

Surviving are her husband, her mother and a sister, Mrs. Katherine L. Mathers of Altoona.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Baltimore, Md., she held a master's degree in hospital administration and public health nursing. Mrs. Burfeindt served as a captain in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II with the 118th General Hospital unit of Johns Hopkins university.

Interment was made in Florida.

She was buried in December 1966 at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood, Sarasota Co., FL, Findagrave #89034112.

FORREST HALL

Located adjacent to the Heim Science Building, Forrest Hall houses 49 students in a co-educational environment. Rooms are single occupancy adjoining rooms (two rooms sharing a bath), with the exception of one triple suite. A laundry and kitchenette are located on the lower level.

Forrest Hall honors Dr. and Mrs. Fletcher Bliss Forrest and Anna Forrest Burfeindt '30, the parents and sister of Katherine Forrest Mathers '28.

Annie Lincoln Forrest

     Annie Lincoln Forrest was born on 3 March 1864 at Adams Co., PA. She was the daughter of Hamilton Wesley Forrest and Louisa Maria Christina Kitzmiller. Occupation: She was the daughter of Hamilton and Louisa Forrest. She was a missionary to Japan for the Methodist Church from 1911-1923 in Nayago, Japan. On her return to the states she was a traveling secretary for the Board of Missions. From October 1923 to May 1924 made an inspection tour of for the Foreign Missionary Society visiting China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
