A Good Woman Called.

Mrs. Scott Miller, mother of Mitchell Miller, died at the family residence in Hopewell on last Sunday. Mrs. Miller was 75 years of age and had been a resident of that township for many years, coming to this section of Illinois from North Carolina, her native state. Her demise was due to old age. She is survived by seven children – four sons and three daughters. Mrs. Miller was a worthy and most excellent lady, highly esteemed by all who knew her. The funeral occurred last Tuesday, the mortal remains being laid beside those of her husband in the Harris cemetery, north of the residence of Ed. Lane.

     Hazel Pearl Freeman was born on 15 February 1908 at Dent Co., MO.¹ She was the daughter of William M. Freeman and Rose Etta Windle.¹ Hazel Pearl Freeman married James J. Allen before April 1930. Funeral services will be held in the Oak Grove Christian church Friday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. John Wilt , 88 who died yesterday at the home of her nephew and wife Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daugherty near Vinton, after a week's illness. She was a lifelong resident of Benton township near Shellsburg.
Rev. E. L. Shaffer will conduct the services. Burial will be in Shellsburg Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs Wilt was visiting at the Daugherty home and was stricken ill while there. Her condition became critical Sunday.
She was born as Ida Freeman on March 2, 1863, near Shellsburg a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Freeman. She married John Wilt on Jan 5, 1882 near Shellsburg. He died 15 years ago.

Surviving are daughter. Mrs. Maude E Cue of Shellsburg three sons, Carl and Glenn of Shellsburg and Earl of La Porte City, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove church and was the first organist there.

The body is at the Fry-Holland funeral home where friends may call until Friday morning at 9:30 when it will be removed to the Oak Grove Church.

L. G. (Sam) Freeman Died At Bonne Terre Hospital

Lawrence Gentry Freeman was born December 10, 1907 (sic) in Salem, Missouri, and died this morning March 8, at the Bonne Terre Hospital.

He was the son of William Freeman and Rosetta (Windell) Freeman.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Freeman and two children, Margaret Greely of Hazelwood, Missouri; and Marcus Freeman of Flat River; two sisters, Hazel Allen and Lovie Talley both of St. Louis.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be under the direction of the Raymond Caldwell and Sons Funeral Service of Flat River.

He was buried in March 1961 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington, St. Francois Co., MO, Findagrave #84796646.
