William Gaston Gamble, a son of Samuel and Mary [née Gaston] Gamble, was born in the bounds of Prairie Bluff in Wilcox County, Alabama on March 9th 1834. He was educated at local schools and raised in the Presbyterian faith. At the age of 21, William graduated from the University of Alabama and then entered the School of Medicine at Tulane University from which he graduated in 1859. On May 15th 1862, William G. Gamble enlisted in Company C, 42nd Alabama Infantry Regiment in Mobile, Alabama under Capt. Thomas and served as an assistant surgeon during the war.
After the war, Dr. Gamble returned to Alabama and continued in his medical practice around Wilcox County; until he moved to the area around Brice's Corners in Lee County, Mississippi. Here William met and met and married Miss Elizabeth Ivanova "Iva" Agnew, a daughter of James Wilson Agnew and the former Miss Elizabeth Dorilla Richey in 1872. This union was blessed with known children:

On July 11, 1920, Dr. William Gaston Gamble departed his earthly life at the age of 86 years. He was visiting his two sons in Greenville, Mississippi at the time. His remains were returned to his old hometown and laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Iva and his two children, Gertrude and James, who had preceded him.

Mrs. Sarah Ellen Gambrel was born in Springfield, Illinois, April 24th, 1846, and was laid to rest at her daughter's home on Spring Creek, December 26, 1919, being 73 years, 8 months and 5 days old.
She moved to the state of Kansas in 1871, and was there married to Phillip Winterstein. She leaves to mourn her death four children - N.E. Winterstein of Pleasant Valley; S.T. Winterstein, of Horseshoe Bend; C.F. Winterstein of Silverton, Ore; and her daughter, Mrs. Vinnie Adams, of Spring Creek, and a number of grandchildren and friends.
They moved to Klickitat County April 1, 1892. They lived at Goldendale for a while, and then moved to Blockhouse, where her husband died twelve years ago. After his death she and her granddaughter, Mabel, lived alone for a long time, and when Mabel was married, she lived with her and Mrs. Vinnie Adams.
She was laid to rest in Spring Creek cemetery on Sunday, by friends and relatives, G.H. Darland speaking the last words after the departed.
I shall see Him in His Beauty,
He Himself, his bride will meet;
I shall dwell with Him forever,
Thoughts of Him are strength and guidance,
In companionship complete.

After his death she and her granddaughter, Mabel, lived alone for a long time, and when Mabel was married, she lived with her and Mrs. Vinnie Adams.
She was laid to rest in Spring Creek cemetery on Sunday, by friends and relatives, G.H. Darland speaking the last words after the departed.
I shall see Him in His Beauty,
He Himself, his bride will meet;
I shall dwell with Him forever,
Thoughts of Him are strength and guidance,
In companionship complete.
Ah, who comes, who walks in this way?
"Tis my Master," see - the bride-groom;
So she hid herself that day.
She was buried on 28 December 1919 at Spring Creek Cemetery, Goldendale, Klickitat Co., WA.

Earnest Earl " Johnnie " Games was born on July 7, 1914 on a farm near Walnut Grove, Illinois to Nora ( Snapp ) & Cosago Vanward Games. He was born on the family farm as the last of the 7 children born to the couple.
His older siblings names were : Alexander Snapp, Golden Roy, Frank Earnest, Vernon Roscoe, Leo Vanward and Garnet Lucille.
His Ancestors came to America from England and France.
He served in the US Navy Seabee's in the Pacific during World War II and was discharged as a Chief Petty Officer. During one of his Navy Seabee leaves in Macomb, he met M. Irene ( Plank) Holmes.
He was a heavy equipment operator at Local 649 for 60 years. He also farmed in the Good Hope area.
He married M. Irene Plank on August 12, 1950 in Kahoka, Missouri. During their 52 years of marriage, they enjoyed many mutual interests such as : raising & showing Quarterback horses, having pet Boxers, spending hours on the Citizen Band Radio, camping, hunting, fishing and traveling. Their most favorite love was for each other.
As they retired and spent summers camping with a group of family and friends they enjoyed the laughter and familiarity of friendship. They began spending their winters camping in Florida in their AirStream camper. Then as more friends and family became 'snowbirds', they spent the winters together in Brownsville, Texas.
Irene preceded Johnnie in death on April 8, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; one sister and a step-son.
Earnest E. " Johnnie " Games, 97 years 5 months 21 days, of Macomb lived in his home at 1601 East Jackson Street Lot # 60 until this fall, when He passed away at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Games (James) DeRosa of Colchester; step-son, James (Patricia) Baker of Idaho and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Don Riley officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery in Good Hope where full military rites were conducted at the cemetery by the Macomb American Legion and the Macomb V.F.W.
Memorials to be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
