Lakewood Man Slain; Jail Wife

A Lakewood man died Saturday nigh after his wife assertedly shot him in the neck with a .22-caliber rifle at their home.

Sheriff's officers said Dean Lloyd Gebhart, 27, was hit by a bullet fired by Barbara Ann Gebhart, 22, following a domestic quarrel at their home, 6213 McKnight Dr.

The woman, booked on suspicion of murder, claimed her husband beat her and accused her of being "sinful" just prior to the pre-dawn shooting Saturday.

Gebhart was taken to Los Angeles County Osteopathic Hospital, where attendants said some of the fragments of the bullet lodged in his spinal column.
