He was born on 13 February 1897 at Carroll Co., MD, per 1900 census, WW II draft registration and SS records show 1898.1 He was the son of Amos Lee Gosnell and Althea Cordelia Franklin.1 Jacob Peter Gosnell began military service on 1 May 1918 WW I service, enlisted, honorable discharge 7 FEB 1919. He married Hazel C. Clary, daughter of Ernest L. Clary and Emma A. Dorsey, circa 1926.2 Jacob Peter Gosnell lived on 21 April 1930 at St. Luke's Lane, Baltimore, MD, Clerk in mail order house.2 He died on 12 May 1977 at Woodbine, Carroll Co., MD, at age 80

Funeral services for Mr. Jacob Peter Gosnell, Woodbine, husband of Mrs. Hazel C. Gosnell, who died Thursday, May 12, at University Hospital in Baltimore, were held from the Waltz-Burrier Funeral Home, Winfield, at 11 a.m., Saturday May 14. The Rev. Donald M. Smith, pastor of the Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church officiated. Bearers were Ernest Schrider, Emil Swanson, Paul Harrison, Albert Gosnell, William Pickett and Jack Dawson. Interment was in Morgan Chapel Cemetery, Woodbine.

SCHMITZ RITES SET

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary C. Gosnell Schmitz, who was active in several organizations, will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Ruck funeral establishment, 5305 Harford road.

Mrs. Schmitz, who was 81 and lived at 4103 Echodale avenue, died Friday at Franklin Square Hospital after a short illness.

The president of the East Baltimore Women's Club, she also was a member of the Auxiliary of the? ? Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Homemakers Club and the Baltimore Democratic Club.

She also did volunteer work at Maryland General Hospital for many years.

Mrs. Schmitz also arranged vacation bus trips for the group to which she belonged.

She was a native of Woodbine, Md., and came to Baltimore as a young woman. Her husband, Francis M. Schmitz, Sr., a retired motion picture projectionist, died in 1963.

During World War II, Mrs. Schmitz worked for the Western Electric Company, and earlier for the FBI.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. M. Orma Butler, of Baltimore; a son, Francis M. Jr., of Baltimore; a brother, Pete Gosnell, of Woodbine; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Grimm, 89, widow of Martin L. Grimm, died Friday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Howard Bidinger, Woodbine. She was a native of Carroll county, a daughter of the late Jesse and Ann Gosnell.
Surviving are four children: Mrs. Boyd Gosnell, Woodbine; Lawrence R. Grimm, Bellevue, N.J; Mrs. Earl Gagle, Philadelphia, Pa; and Mrs. Bidinger; a brother, Albert Gosnell, Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Grimm, Woodbine and Miss Kate Gosnell, both of Woodbine; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cleo Katherine Watts was born in Lead, South Dakota, to Roscoe and Ethel Goss on October 25, 1913. She left this earth on Thursday, March 20, 2008, to be embraced by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. She was in the first graduating class of Roosevelt High School in 1931. She was instrumental in starting the first tennis team at Roosevelt. She attended Fresno State College for two years and was active in Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1935, she married Jess A. Watts and they were happily married for 54 years until his passing in 1989. In 1966, she and Audrey Meyers brought Bible Study Fellowship to Fresno. It has continued to this day. She taught Sunday School at the Memorial Baptist Church. She later was an active member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of The Bridge in her last years. She has always been known as one of Jesus' prayer warriors. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, Bob; her husband, Jess; and her son, Bob Watts. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Sanborn and her husband Conrad; as well as her daughter-in-law, Gaynelle Watts. She has five grandchildren, Kari Sanborn, Kelli Mori, Michael Sanborn, Todd Watts and Stephanie Cross. In addition, she has five great-grandchildren.
