Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
AMANDA HAGA DE LANCY (sic)
Amanda Haga DeLancy, one of the old settlers of Prairie Chapel, died July 4th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Maxwell, where she was taken ill while visiting about six weeks ago. She was born in Noble county, Ohio, Oct. 19, 1825. She was married to Stephen De Lancy, March 24, 1845. To them were born five sons and four daughters. Seven of the children are still living, Mrs. Margaret Withers, of Inez, Neb; Lawson and Charley of Oregon; Rebecca, of Los Angeles, Cal; Mrs. Sade Giebink, of Alton, Ia; Jacob and Mrs. Olive Maxwell of Marion. All were present at the funeral except the two living on the Pacific coast.
Mr. and Mrs. DeLancy came to Iowa in 1850, settling in Dubuque county. In 1865 they came to Linn county, locating on the farm just south of the County Home, which has ever since been the homestead.
Mr. DeLancy died eighteen years ago, being at the time of his death one of the prosperous farmers of the neighborhood and a leading member of the Prairie Chapel church. Mrs. Delancy was a Christian and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church from early life. As she grew older the pathway to her became brighter. The last few years she was not able to attend church, but she delighted to render whatever services she could for her Master. As death drew near, her testimony was that the way was bright and she rejoiced that in the land where there is no sorrow and pain, she would soon meet with the dear ones who had preceded her.
The funeral was held at the Prairie Chapel church, Friday, July 6, at 11 o'clock, and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. P. Van Horn. Interment was in the Prairire Chapel cemetery, by the side of her husband.
She was buried in July 1906 at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Marion Twp., Linn Co., IA, Findagrave #49883979.
