     Charles Frederick Hagest was born on 10 August 1885 at Carr Twp., Clark Co., IN.¹ He was the son of Samuel Hagest and Josephine Zeitvogel.¹ Charles Frederick Hagest married Mary Ettie Cooley, daughter of Alonzo C. Cooley and Nancy Melissa Jackson, on 8 May 1909 at Clark Co., IN. Charles Frederick Hagest began military service on 12 September 1918 WWI Draft Registration.      BORDEN -- Fred Hagest, 82, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday in Floyd Memorial hospital, New Albany. He lived on Borden Rt. 1.
     He was a member of Carwood Evangelical United Brethren church, New Providence Masonic Lodge and the Modern Woodmen of America.
     Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Virginia Boardman Hagest; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Lois Ruth, Jeffersonville; Two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edna Jackson, Speed, and Mrs. Verna Wagoner, North Vernon; two step-sons, Dempsey Boardman, Jeffersonville, and Charles Boardman, Sellersburg; three brothers, William, Borden; Phillip, Jeffersonville and Samuel Hagest of New Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Stone, Jeffersonville; Mrs. Emma Wagoner, Bedford, and Mrs. Anna Money, Borden; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was buried in August 1967 at Sellersburg Cemetery, Sellersburg, Clark Co., IN.

     Eva Lois Hagest was born on 16 October 1910 at Borden, Clark Co., IN. She was the daughter of Charles Frederick Hagest and Mary Ettie Cooley. Eva Lois Hagest married Ervin Henry Ruth, son of George Orval Ruth and Ettie M. (?), circa 1928.      Funeral services for Eva Lois Ruth, 95, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Scott Funeral Home’s Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She went to be with Babe on Thursday, Aug. 17, from her home in Jeffersonville.
     She was a native of Borden, a retired cook from Clark Memorial Hospital, and she worked as a cook with the Greater Clark County School System. She was a member of First Christian Church in Jeffersonville where she was part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
     Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Skaggs, Jeffersonville; four granddaughters, Vickie Castile, Jeffersonville, Theresa Mathews and her husband, Tim, Depauw, Jennifer Lee and her husband, James, Jeffersonville and Beverly Williams and her husband, Joe, Jeffersonville; two grandsons, Bob Skaggs and his wife, Bobbie, Jeffersonville, and Gene Skaggs and his wife, Kathy, Jeffersonville; 17 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Babe" Ruth; and her daughter, Thelma Ruth Soper.
     Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20.
     The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

She was buried in August 2006 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.

     Homer E. Hagest was born on 12 February 1913 at Indiana. He was the son of Charles Frederick Hagest and Mary Ettie Cooley. Homer E. Hagest died on 23 November 1934 at age 21. He was buried in November 1934 at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Carr Twp., Clark Co., IN.

     Martha Jane Hagest was born on 13 May 1925 at Clark Co. (probably), IN. She was the daughter of Philllip Balser Hagest and Bernice Iselene Roerk. Martha Jane Hagest married Willard Dean Canter, son of Elmer Canter and Georgia Reed.

     Naomi Hagest was born circa 1923 at Clark Co. (probably), IN. She was the daughter of Philllip Balser Hagest and Bernice Iselene Roerk. Naomi Hagest married O. D. Page, son of Ollie Page and Georgia Dooley, at least three children born to this marriage. Naomi Hagest married Wesley Earl Bray, son of John Bray and Ethel Ann (?), before 2002.

     Philllip Balser Hagest was born in May 1894 at Bennettsville, Clark Co., IN.¹ He was the son of Samuel Hagest and Josephine Zeitvogel.¹ Philllip Balser Hagest began military service Draft registration 5 JUN 1917;
WWI military service. He married Bernice Iselene Roerk, daughter of Frank Miller Roerk and Susanna Jackson, circa 1922. Philllip Balser Hagest died on 29 March 1980 at Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN, at age 85. He was buried in April 1980 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.

     Samuel Hagest was born in April 1858 at Indiana.¹ He married Josephine Zeitvogel on 25 June 1885 at Clark Co., IN.

     Samuel Vasco Hagest was born on 17 June 1904 at Indiana. He was the son of Samuel Hagest and Josephine Zeitvogel. Samuel Vasco Hagest married Grace Naomi Jackson, daughter of Zeaphra Clarence Jackson and Emma Arizona Warman. Samuel Vasco Hagest died in April 1976 at age 71. He was buried in 1976 at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Carr Twp., Clark Co., IN.

     Susannah Hagey was born on 7 August 1797 at Pennsylvania. She married Abraham Lingenfelter circa 1819 at Huntingdon Co., PA. Susannah Hagey died on 10 March 1896 at Newton Twp., Licking Co., OH, at age 98.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Marvin Davis and a son, Darrell Franklin Moore.
