     Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Virginia Boardman Hagest; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Lois Ruth, Jeffersonville; Two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edna Jackson, Speed, and Mrs. Verna Wagoner, North Vernon; two step-sons, Dempsey Boardman, Jeffersonville, and Charles Boardman, Sellersburg; three brothers, William, Borden; Phillip, Jeffersonville and Samuel Hagest of New Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Stone, Jeffersonville; Mrs. Emma Wagoner, Bedford, and Mrs. Anna Money, Borden; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was buried in August 1967 at Sellersburg Cemetery, Sellersburg, Clark Co., IN.

     Funeral services for Eva Lois Ruth, 95, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Scott Funeral Home’s Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She went to be with Babe on Thursday, Aug. 17, from her home in Jeffersonville.
     She was a native of Borden, a retired cook from Clark Memorial Hospital, and she worked as a cook with the Greater Clark County School System. She was a member of First Christian Church in Jeffersonville where she was part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
     Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Skaggs, Jeffersonville; four granddaughters, Vickie Castile, Jeffersonville, Theresa Mathews and her husband, Tim, Depauw, Jennifer Lee and her husband, James, Jeffersonville and Beverly Williams and her husband, Joe, Jeffersonville; two grandsons, Bob Skaggs and his wife, Bobbie, Jeffersonville, and Gene Skaggs and his wife, Kathy, Jeffersonville; 17 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Babe" Ruth; and her daughter, Thelma Ruth Soper.
     Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20.
     The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

She was buried in August 2006 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.
