She formerly was employed at US Shoe and Magee's Bakery and Lelia and Roland co-managed the Daniel Boone Motel for twenty-one years and later they co-managed Brown's Motel. Lelia was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and a graduate of Bracken County High School. She was born in Gertrude in Bracken County, Kentucky on May 30, 1936 the daughter of the late Samuel Kelsie Hardy and Alice Louise Marshall Hardy.
She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Ann (Bob) Clarke, Sandra Kay (Pat) Kimble, Barry Keith (Roxane) Payne and Lyndon Bryan Payne; eight grandchildren, Michael Kimble, Jamin Payne, Alison Hancock, Kelsey Niedert, Andy Clarke, Jordan Payne, Brianna Payne and Haley Schroer; seven great grandchildren, Ansleigh, Kara, Andrew, Chloe, Wesley, Annie and Hazel and her sister-in-law, Mary Edith Griffith. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Irene Aulick and Wanda Ginn, her half-sister, Helen Hopkins and her half-brother, Roscoe Hardy.
Funeral services for Lelia Payne will be held at the Central United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2022 with Rev. Michael Sweeney and Rev. David Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Charter Oak Cemetery, Aberdeen, Ohio. Pallbearers will be Michael Kimble, Andy Clarke, Jordan Payne, Mark Shwenk, Chad Niedert, John Michael Schroer, Greg Owens and Joey Braughton. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Mrs. Sara Matthews Hardy Blanton, 77, of Castleton, Vt., and a longtime resident of Farmville, Va., died Tuesday evening, April 3, 2001, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, Rutland, Vt. Mrs. Blanton was born in Farmville, Va., on October 5, 1923, the daughter of Elizabeth Jarman Hardy and Dr. Thomas Griffin Hardy. Mrs. Blanton was raised in Farmville, attended local schools, graduating from Farmville High School with the class of 1940. Following her graduation, she attended Longwood College. She was a member of Alpha Chapter, Tri Sigma Sorority and was a volunteer at the Children's Hospital in Richmond, following her marriage. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Blanton Shelor of Alexandria, Va; her son, Charles A. Blanton III; her sister, Wiley H. Wheat of Caret, Va; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Hardy Murdoch; and a brother, Dr. Thomas G. Hardy Jr. Services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church in Farmville, Va., with interment to follow at West View Cemetery in Farmville. Following the services, the family will receive friends at the Lancaster Library Building, Longwood College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home and Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home in Farmville, Va.

Mrs. Sara Matthews Hardy Blanton, 77, of Castleton, Vt., and a longtime resident of Farmville, Va., died Tuesday evening, April 3, 2001, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, Rutland, Vt. Mrs. Blanton was born in Farmville, Va., on October 5, 1923, the daughter of Elizabeth Jarman Hardy and Dr. Thomas Griffin Hardy. Mrs. Blanton was raised in Farmville, attended local schools, graduating from Farmville High School with the class of 1940. Following her graduation, she attended Longwood College. She was a member of Alpha Chapter, Tri Sigma Sorority and was a volunteer at the Children's Hospital in Richmond, following her marriage. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Blanton Shelor of Alexandria, Va; her son, Charles A. Blanton III; her sister, Wiley H. Wheat of Caret, Va; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Hardy Murdoch; and a brother, Dr. Thomas G. Hardy Jr. Services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church in Farmville, Va., with interment to follow at West View Cemetery in Farmville. Following the services, the family will receive friends at the Lancaster Library Building, Longwood College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home and Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home in Farmville, Va.
