APPALACHIAN CHRISTIAN VILLAGE Mrs. Hazel DeVault, 94, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) at the village following a lengthy illness. A native of Washington County, Mrs. DeVault was a daughter of the late James Landon and Laura Conner Harrison. Mrs. DeVault was retired from the Parks-Belk Department Store in Johnson City. Mrs. DeVault was a member of Central Baptist Church and had attended Bethany Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in church work. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. DeVault was preceded in death by her husband, Foy DeVault, in 1984, and by four brothers and one sister. Survivors include one brother, Fred Harrison, Gray; two sisters, Ruby Hall, Gray, and Pauline Friday, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, Johnson City. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Ronald Murray officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in Monte Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeff Campbell, Frank Harrison, Jimmy Harrison, Brian Jeter, David Jeter, Eddie Lewis, Steve Poteat, and Allan Reaves. They are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be given to the Building Fund of Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St., Johnson City, Tenn. 37601.
She was buried in February 2001.
