Warren; one online family tree shows this marriage was with Dr. Albert R. Warren (1838-1914) of Pekin, but it presents no evidence to support that, and I also find no evidence of it. DLB 2022. Mary Hawkins was born circa 1752. She was the daughter of Joseph Hawkins and Sarah Marlin. Mary Hawkins married Daniel Wendel, son of Christophel Wendel and Catherine Brumbach, on 21 April 1774 at Dunmore (now Shenandoah) Co., VA. Mary Hawkins died before April 1815. She left a will on 21 April 1815 at Rockbridge Co., VA; No actual will for Daniel, only an app. book 2 pg. 429 12/31/1805 and an estate settlement book 5 pg. 11 1806. There was an extensive will and testament for Mary Windell. Tried to get most of it; left out some of the furnishings. Dated 4/21/1815:
Bequeath to my son Andrew Windell bed and furniture which is marked with his initials. To daughter Matilda three beds and bedsteads and all the bed furniture- marked with her initials and all table furniture and one dozen and a half Windsor chairs, window curtains and what looks like 7 table toilets. Kitchen items of her choosing; paintings she now calls her own and her saddle. Any money residue arising from Sale of property also left to Matilda along with fleeces of eleven sheep. Should residue of property be insufficient to pay debt, the remaining debt shall be paid by my son in law Joseph Hoffman and son in law Anderson Johnston out of money which they owe to me by note of hand, that they shall pay equal sum toward payment of my debt and the balance of what they owe I wish to remain in their hands until distribution of my husbands estate takes place and then they are to pay it to my daughter Matilda. In the next place I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Jones 20 pounds to be paid out of a note her husband Blackburn Jones owes me. 20 pounds to my son Andrew. 10 pounds to son William. to daughter Kitty Dryden 10 pounds. Starts with an 1806 date moves to an 1810 date then back to 1806. Ending with a date of 10/4/1819. A settlement of estate in the county of Rockbridge recorded this day.

On Thursday morning, Feb 21, 1946, Mr. Walter Brownawoke to find that the death angel had come quietly and unexpectedly into his home and had carried away with him the spirit of his beloved wife, Mary.
Mary Hawkins Brown was born April 1, 1886 and departed this life February 21, 1046, age 59 years, 10 moths and 20 days.
She was married to Walter Brown December 27, 1903 and to this union was born thirteen children, ten of whom survive her, two babies having died in infancy and one girl at the age of twelve.
Mary professed faith in Christ at the age of thirteen joined Pleasant Grove Church where she was a faithful member and attended until she married. When she moved her membership to Garrett's Creek. Mrs. Brown was interested in church services and never failed to attend when her health permitted her to do so. She was always glad to testify to her hope in Christ Jesus, and in so far as she was able, she lived a consecrated life. During her last years, she was afflicted in both mind and body. These afflications and circumstances which did not exist and brought great trouble and worry to those whom she loved dearly. But when she was normal, she was a kind wife, a loving mother, and a good neighbor.
She and Mr. Brown have reared a large family of good and useful citizens. Two of their sons have been into the service of their country.
The mother was very much worried when her baby son was called into the Army and said, " I will never live to see him come any more to stay." She must have been warned of this, for Ona J. is still in service. She also has twenty one grandchildren, and aged father, R. Y. Hawkins, Indianapolis, Indiana, four brothers, Taylor, Sam, Billy, and John, and five sisters, Mrs. Martha Hammock, Mrs. Vessie Pike, Mrs. Ruth Gilliam, Mrs. Bettie Brown, and Mrs. Laura Martin.
Her work on Earch is done her suffering o're, with outstretched arms, she waits at Heaven's door, To Greet her family, as one by on the death Angel bears them to that eternal shore.
She was buried in February 1945 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Allen Co., KY, Findagrave #53081224.
On Thursday morning, Feb 21, 1946, Mr. Walter Brownawoke to find that the death angel had come quietly and unexpectedly into his home and had carried away with him the spirit of his beloved wife, Mary.
Mary Hawkins Brown was born April 1, 1886 and departed this life February 21, 1046, age 59 years, 10 moths and 20 days.
She was married to Walter Brown December 27, 1903 and to this union was born thirteen children, ten of whom survive her, two babies having died in infancy and one girl at the age of twelve.
Mary professed faith in Christ at the age of thirteen joined Pleasant Grove Church where she was a faithful member and attended until she married. When she moved her membership to Garrett's Creek. Mrs. Brown was interested in church services and never failed to attend when her health permitted her to do so. She was always glad to testify to her hope in Christ Jesus, and in so far as she was able, she lived a consecrated life. During her last years, she was afflicted in both mind and body. These afflications and circumstances which did not exist and brought great trouble and worry to those whom she loved dearly. But when she was normal, she was a kind wife, a loving mother, and a good neighbor.
She and Mr. Brown have reared a large family of good and useful citizens. Two of their sons have been into the service of their country.
The mother was very much worried when her baby son was called into the Army and said, " I will never live to see him come any more to stay." She must have been warned of this, for Ona J. is still in service.
