Enchgen Almecher was born at Fellinghausen, Nassau-Siegen (now in Nordrhein-Westfalen), Germany. Enchgen Almecher was also known as Anna. She was the daughter of Hans Almecher. Enchgen Almecher married Hans Brumbach, son of Jost Brumbach and Elsbeth (?), in 1588, Shons Hans in der Brumbach, as he was referred to in the late sixteenth century, and Enchgen had 13 children born between 1590 and 1615, but most died in childhood, three of them in the plague of 1599. At least four sons survived them, two of whom were named Jost. Hans was still living in 1639, the last year he is mentioned in the church register. Toward the end of his life he was referred to simply as Hans Brumbach.2
