He was a son of Henry G. and Josie Bishop Hill. He married Freda G. Alten on Dec. 24, 1930. They had three children, Kathryn, Robert and Betty.

He worked as a glassworker and a dairy farmer. In 1973, he founded the Council for the Disabled in Lancaster and served as a trustee. In 1980, he was appointed to President Carter's International Handicap Committee, receiving a White House award for his contributions. In 1992, he was presented with an award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement by Unicare, a subsidiary of United Health Inc.

Jesse Hill, 78, who retired in 1952 as an engineer with the International Boundary commission of the United States and Canada, and Alaska and Canada, died Saturday morning at his home on Hillcrest drive.

A native of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mr. Hill entered employment of the boundary commission in 1908 and had charge of locating and erecting boundary range monuments along the Southeast Alaska-British Columbia boundary.

An important peak along the Alaskan boundary was named Mt. Hill in recognition of his work in Alaska with the commission. He moved to Hanover from Washington, D.C. in 1952. He was one of the original members of All Saints Episcopal church.

Surviving are: His wife, Ellenora McMullen Fitz Hill; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Greening, New Brunswick, N.J; a son, John Fitz Hill, at home, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held this morning at 11 o'clock at All Saints church. His pastor, Rev. Stuart S. Tuller, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The famly requests that contributions be made to All Saints church or to Hanover Public library in lieu of other memorials. Arrangements are in charge of the Panebaker Funeral home, 311 Broadway.

Jesse Hill

Funeral services for Jesse Hill, Hanover R.D. 2, a retired engineer of the International Boundary Commission of the United States and Canada, who died Saturday, were held yesterday at All Saints Episcopal Church. The Rev. Stuart S. Tuller, vicar, officiated. Burial was in the family plot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

He was buried in December 1963 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, York Co., PA, Findagrave #138472405.
