Charlotte Ann Nichols, 79, of Woodward, Iowa went to be with her Savior, husband and daughter on Friday, July 26, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1st at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4208 N Ankeny Blvd. Visitation will be at 3:00 pm followed by the celebration of life service at 4:00 pm.

Charlotte was born December 11, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lester and Anita (Little) Honts. She was one of seven brothers and sisters. She married the love of her life Jack Nichols in 1959 and they lived in Des Moines until 1999.

Charlotte was a hardworking, loving mother and grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her faith in Jesus and unconditional love were evident to all. She took great pride in cooking and gardening. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and traveling with her family. Charlotte loved animals, especially her dogs Lucy and Kai.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbi Cheek of Woodward, Iowa, her son, Rick (Jodie) Nichols of Orlando, Florida; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Dave) Fuqua, Michael (Emily) Klingensmith, Brandon (Katelyn) Cheek, Nathan Nichols, Allycia Nichols and Annalea Nichols; two great grandchildren: Drake Klingensmith and Vivienne Cheek. She was preceded in death by her mother Anita Little Honts, husband Jack and daughter Cheryl Klingensmith.

     Fern J. Honts was born on 16 November 1899 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., UT.¹ She was the daughter of James Edgar Honts and Josephine Gertrude Voss.¹ Fern J. Honts married Robert Waggoner Hamsher, son of Harry E. Hamsher and Birdie M. Waggoner. Fern J. Honts died on 8 January 1987 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA, at age 87. She was buried in January 1987 at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth, Los Angeles Co., CA.

Morning Sun - Funeral services for Harry Honts, 81, who died at his home here Sunday were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Pierce Funeral Home. Rev. Virgil Ellott officiated and burial was in Columbus City cemetery.

Mr. Honts was born hear Wapello Feb. 8, 1878 the son of Henry and Anna Piper (Pfeifer) Honts. He lived in Louisa county most of his life.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Opal Colton of Columbus Junction, who died in Oct. 1958.

Mr. Honts is survived by his widow Laura (Hall) and the following children:
Mrs Ella Robertson, Lucas; Mrs. Marie Sherman, Silvia, Ill; Roy Honts, Clinton; Lester Honts, Des Moines; Mrs. Ozella Garrett, Detroit, Mich; and Richard Honts, Bettendorf.

He and Myrtle divorced, and Harry married Sarah Lord about 1914.

After Sarah's death, Harry married third to Laura Priscilla Hall.

Services for Lester W. Honts, Sr., 85 of Anniston will be today at 3 P.M. at Noble Street Baptist Church with Rev. George Smitherman officiating. Entombment will be in Maple Grove Mausoleum. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Honts died Sunday at Wessex House of Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Honts of Anniston; a son Les W. Honts of Alexandria, a brother Richard Honts of Costa Rica; a grandchild Jonathan Honts and two great grandchildren Kortney Honts and Mathew Honts.

Mr. Honts, a native of Columbus Junction, Iowa, was a resident of Anniston for the past 12 years. He was retired from Thermagas in Des Moines, Iowa.

     Opal E. Honts was born on 27 November 1915 at Conesville, Muscatine Co., IA. She was the daughter of Harry Honts and Sarah Alice Lord. Opal E. Mrs. Don Colton Rites Were Held Wednesday

Death always brings grief and particularly is this true when a young mother is called from the home and family of loved ones while still in the prime of young womanhood.

Mrs. Don Colton, who has been ill for several years, but who bore her suffering with patience and rare fortitude, died at 8:40 Sunday evening October 19, 1958 at Muscatine General hospital, where she was taken the previous Friday evening.

Opal Honts, daughter of Harry and Sarah Lord Honts, was born at Conesville, Iowa. November 27, 1915, and was aged 42 years, 10 months, 22 days. The family soon afterward moved to Columbus City and September 24, 1934 she was united in marriage to Donald Colton. They made their home at Columbus City for one year them moved to Columbus Junction which has since been their home. Some years ago they built and moved to a fine modern new home on south hill.

She was a member of the Open Bible church at Morning Sun.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Larry of Oklahoma City, who came last week to be at the bedside of his mother and Tom at home. She is also survived by her father, Harry Honts of Morning Sun, and by one sister, Mrs. Alonzo Garrett of Detroit and two brothers Lester Honts of Des Moines and Richard Honts Bettendorf.

One son preceded her in death at the age of 13 months. She was also preceded in death some years ago by her mother.

Funeral services were conducted at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Stacy Funeral home by the Rev. Virgil Elliott pastor of the church at Morning Sun.

Music was by Mrs. B.O. Roundy and Mrs. Carl Wiley who sang "We Shall See Christ" and "Home Sweet Sweet Home". Flower attendants were Mrs. Harold Hall, Mrs. Dale Deenblossom and Mrs. Keith Grenstead. Casket bearers were Harold Hall, Walter DeVore, Merle Colton, Charles Brown, Herbert Ellingson and Cleo Swaila.

     Ozella Mae Honts was born on 6 April 1914 at Conesville, Muscatine Co., IA, Sarah (Lord) Honts signed the affidavit for an Iowa delayed birth certificate on 11 OCT 1940 at Columbus City, Louisa County, Iowa.¹ She was the daughter of Harry Honts and Sarah Alice Lord. Ozella Mae Honts married Martin Alfred Taylor on 26 March 1933 at Columbus City, Louisa Co., IA, no children as of the 1940 census. Ozella Mae Honts lived on 20 April 1940 at 6810 Vaughan Avenue, Detroit, Wayne Co., MI.² She married John Dyer Carr on 13 April 1953 at Henry Co., OH, Ozella was Ozella Taylor as of this marriage. John was previously married on 16 FEB 1949 at Detroit to Jeannie I. Lute. His son John D. Carr, Jr. of Bowling Green, KY, born about 1952, was probably from that marriage. John was later married on 3 SEP 1958 in Roane County, TN to Flora Marie Morgan. Ozella Mae Honts and John Dyer Carr were divorced before September 1958. Ozella Mae Honts married Alonzo W. Garrett. Ozella Mae Honts lived in October 1958 at Detroit, Wayne Co., MI, per sister Opal's obituary. She died after 1996 Ozella Garrett's name appears in publicly available telephone and address in Detroit through 1997.

     Richard William Honts was born on 9 April 1919 at Salem, Henry Co., IA, per WW II bonus application. He was the son of Harry Honts and Sarah Alice Lord. Richard William Honts began military service on 19 April 1943 at Camp Dodge, IA, WW II service, U.S. Army, enlisted. He ended military service on 15 March 1946; Honorable Discharge.      Sharon Lee Honts was born on 11 December 1939 at Polk Co., IA.¹ She was the daughter of Lester Willard Honts Sr. and Anita Gwendolyn Little.¹ Sharon Lee Honts married Homer Newell Klahn, son of Herman Frederick Klahn and Olive V. Birchard, on 1 August 1967 at Clay Co., SD. Sharon Lee Honts lived in 1993 at Ft. Collins, Larimer Co., CO. She died on 9 February 2018 at Cheyenne, Laramie Co., WY, at age 78.
