BLISSFIELD - Elaine Nichelson Furgason, 69, of Blissfield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999 at her home. Born July 8, 1929, in Blissfield, Elaine was the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Leighton) Iffland. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1947 as class valedictorian. She was married on July 30, 1948, to William Nichelson, who passed away in 1986. She was married on Aug. 8, 1987, to John William Furgason. He survives. Elaine worked as a secretary at the Blissfield Middle School, retiring in 1991, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield. Surviving is her husband, Bill Furgason of Blissfield, two daughters, Loraine (Kim) Cranor of Chelsea, Mich., and Connie (Jerry) Schneider of Jerome, Mich; one son, Matthew (Sue) Nichelson of Zeeland, Mich; a stepdaughter, Kathy Beal of Adrian; a stepson, Mike Furgason of Lambertville; two brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Iffland and Harold Iffland, both of Blissfield; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield, with Pastor David Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield. Friends may call at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield from 9-i p.m. Thursday and from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
