William Jacques1

William Jacques was born on 14 May 1857 at New York City, NY.1 He was the son of William Jacques.1 William Jacques married Mary H. Taggart, daughter of Thomas Taggart and Elizabeth R. Price, on 2 November 1882.1
Note: William Jacques' father entered the U.S. service at the breakout of the Civil War and his mother died two weeks after his enlistment. William and his sister were placed in the care of a farmer in Lykens Valley, Pa., where they remained until they became of age, without pay, except board and clothing. Neither were allowed to go to school for a day while there. Leaving the farm he worked for a time in a coal mine at Tower City and as soon as he began earning wages he bought books and began educating himself. In the spring of 1879 he hired on a large dairy farm near West Chester, where he stayed 15 months, studying at night in his room. His Quaker employer objected to this night study on the ground that his help could not do a good day's work if he did not get rest at night; leaving there he secured work on a farm at Eagleville, where he found the same objection to studious farm hands; he left there and for a time worked in the Iron works at Phoenixville and then entered the employ of O. B. Keeley at Spring City, as an apprentice to learn stove mounting and has been employed in Stove Foundaries since. Mr. Jacques has been a member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1891; was Master six years; Representative in the Grand Lodge and since 1898 has been Secretary of his lodge.1

Death Closes Colorful Career of Julius Jaeck, 79
Julius Jaeck, 79, who spent half his life in the pharmacy business in the west and northwest, was found dead Sunday morning at 113 East Perry street where he resided with his niece, Miss Carrie Cramer. His death resulted from hemorrhage. He was able to be down town Saturday evening but appeared to be suffering from a cold at the time.
Mr. Jaeck operated a drugstore in Leadville, Colo., at the height of the mining boom in that section, and later went to Vancouver, B. C., where he operated a drugstore for
many years. He had an intimate acquaintance with the history of the old "Wild West," and his friends here prized his descriptive accounts of the exploits of men with whom
he was acquainted in the history of the western states and Canada.

Native of Tiffin
Mr. Jaeck was born in Tiffin, Oct. t, 1854, the son of Dr. F. J. and Caroline (Foulhauver) Jaeck. He attended the high school here and then attended Heidelberg College for two years, after which he went to Cincinnati and completed his education as a pharmacist. Returning to Tiffin, he worked in a drugstore here for about two years and then went west, opening a store in Vancouver in about 1876. He returned to Tiffin in 1900 for a visit and decided to remain here. The deceased was never married and his nearest surviving relatives are the following
nieces and nephews, Miss Carrie Cramer, Tiffin; F. D. Cramer, Bellevue; and Charles Hornung, Holgate. He joined the Second Reformed church here in his boyhood and was also a member of the Blue Lodge of the Masonic organizations.

Funeral Tuesday
Masonic funeral services are to be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard Baker mortuary where friends may call up to the time of the services. Interment will be made in Greenlawn cemetery. He was buried in July 1933 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, Seneca Co., OH.
