Roy S. Jackson Sr. 77, of 831 Parkway Drive, Smyrna, died Thursday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Mayes Ward Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Fred Shellnut officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta.

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Jackson is a native of Marietta who worked in Atlanta as a train engineer for 47 years. After retirement, he moved to Smyrna. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Smyrna and Oglethorpe Masonic Lodge no. 665 F&AM. He was a member of the Southern Railway retirement club. He had been in declining health for several years.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nell Bosworth Jackson; a daughter, Mrs. Luther M. Giesler; sons, Roy S. Jackson Jr. and Harry B. Jackson, all of Smyrna; a sister, Mrs. Irene J. Rhamstine of Atlanta; a brother, Luther H. Jackson of Atlanta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was buried in May 1974 at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA, Findagrave #53419078.

     Ruth A. Jackson was born in 1914 at Allen Co., IN.¹ She was the daughter of William A. Jackson and Sophia S. Schmidt.¹ Ruth A. Jackson lived in April 1930 at 3109 South Anthony Boulevard, Ft. Wayne, Allen Co., IN, in her father's household.²

     Shirley Ann Jackson was born on 20 October 1937 at Shobonier, Fayette Co., IL; daughter of Don Carlos and Wilma Louise (Gammon) Jackson. She married Robert Lee DeVault, son of Julius Raymond DeVault and Hattie Mae James, on 29 May 1953 at Havana, Mason Co., IL. Shirley Ann DeVault, 81, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 4:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Heritage Health, Gibson City, Illinois.

Her funeral will be held at 3:30 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois, with Andy Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois. Visitation will be from 2:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2019, at the funeral home.

Shirley was born October 20, 1937, at Shobonier, Illinois, a daughter of Don and Wilma Gammon Jackson. She married Robert Lee DeVault Sr. on May 29, 1953, in Havana, Illinois. He passed away September 20, 2011.

She is survived by her children, Robert L. (Debbie) DeVault Jr. of Ogden, Illinois; Donna Louise (Willie) DeVault-Harris of Center, Texas; Carol A. (Eric) Kersey of Fisher, Illinois; four grandchildren, Quinton (Cynthia) DeVault, Sarah DeVault, Brittany (Curtis Lashbrook) Evans, and Brett A. Kersey; two stepgrandchildren, Melynda (Floyd) Davis and Chris (Halee Evitt) Allen; three great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Shirley was a CNA at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City, Illinois, for several years. She also had worked at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Champaign, Illinois, as a ward secretary. Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church, Farmer City, Illinois.

She was buried in June 2019 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, DeWitt Co., IL, Findagrave #200292310.

     Note: Tina was apparently the daughter of Musetta (Jackson) Money, born five years prior to Musetta's marriage to Edward Money. Tina is shown in the 1900 Census living with Musetta's parents and is listed as their granddaughter, surname Jackson. Her marriage record in Floyd County also shows her surname as Jackson. In later years she was considered the daughter of Edward and Musetta and their children were referred to as her siblings, as shown in the following newspaper article:

Mrs. Charles Reasor, 1019 East Market street, New Alvany, has received word that her brother, Charles Money, 16 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Money, who reside at Carwood, near St. Joseph Hill in Clark county and her niece, Wanda Money, 4 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Money, of Connersville, were attacked by a 4-months'-old pup which was suffering from rabies.
Mrs. Liza Monroe, 45 years old, who resides a mile from the Money home , was also bitten by the dog. An examination of the brain of the animal at the State laboratory showed that the dog had suffered from rabies. All of the victims are undergoing the Pasteur treatment.
The child who was bitten was visiting at the Money residence with her parents. Following the attack upon members of the Money family, the pup strayed a mile from home and engaged in a fight with a dog belonging to Mrs Monroe. While she was endeavoring to separate the two animals, the pup turned upon her and viciously bit her.
It is generally believed that the pup was bitten by the mad dog which strayed from New Albany to the St. Joseph Hill neighborhood several weeks ago, after attacking four or five persons in this city.
The pup also attacked two valuable ...hounds and bird dog belonging ... Money, which also sub ... Pasteur treatment.

Note: Mrs. Charles Reasor was Tina (Jackson) Reasor, thought to be the daughter of Musetta (Jackson) Money. Charles Money was the youngest child of Edward and Musetta (Jackson) Money. E. Wanda Money was the daughter of Roland Herbert and Margy (Nicholson) Money. Liza (Money) Monroe is thought to have been the daughter of Mike and Maria Money. Liza is not a descendant of Henry Dewald.
