     Peter Jessee was born in August 1898 at Cherokee Co. (probably), KS.¹ He was the son of Katherine Graham.¹

     Betty Louise Jessen was born on 15 May 1941 at Clinton, Clinton Co., IA. She married Dale William Johnston, son of Edward Benner Johnston and Velma Irene Kohl, on 28 June 1985. Betty Louise Jessen died on 31 January 2010 at Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA, at age 68 Obituary (findagrave.com):

Betty Louise was joyfully welcomed into the world on May 15, 1941 by Cora and Carl Jessen of Clinton, Iowa. She married Donald Petersen and together they had 4 children; Virginia Petersen (Charles), Carlena Minor (James), Tom Petersen (Tammy) and Barbara Chermak (John). They divorced and she married Dale Johnston on June 28, 1985. They traveled the world together and had many exciting and unique adventures. Betty loved nature, had a remarkable zest for life and a continuing love of learning new things. She was, among many other things, an accomplished gardener and an award winning photographer.
Betty was gently called home to be with our Lord on January 31, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant sister, brother and parents. She will always be missed by those who had the good fortune to know her. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Wickiup Hill Outdoor Learning Center.

     Caleb Jessup was born in 1778 at Surry Co., NC. He was the son of Joseph Jessup and Priscilla Jackson. Caleb Jessup married Mary Rachel Clark. Caleb Jessup died in 1843 at Eel River Twp., Greene Co., IN.

     Daniel Jessup was born circa 1790. He married Ann Seward, daughter of Samuel Seward and Elsie Gentry, circa 1812. Daniel Jessup lived in 1820 at Springfield Twp., Hamilton Co., OH, Census p.172 (stamped), 32 (pencilled.) He died on 28 August 1845.

     Jane Jinson Jessup was born on 15 March 1802 at Surry Co., NC. She was the daughter of Caleb Jessup and Mary Rachel Clark. Jane Jinson Jessup married Harbard Colvin Sanders, son of John H. Sanders and Emma (?), on 20 April 1823 at Greene Co., IN, per Indiana Marriage Index, online (ancestry.com.) Jane Jinson Jessup died on 1 June 1845 at Greene Co., IN, at age 43.

     Joseph Jessup was born in 1738. He was the son of Thomas Jessup and Sarah Small. Joseph Jessup married Priscilla Jackson, daughter of Aaron Jackson. Joseph Jessup died in 1796.

     Lillian Jessup was born in 1874 at Indiana.¹ She married Daniel J. Murphy circa 1890.¹

     Robert Earl Jessup was born on 25 December 1946 at Paducah, McCracken Co., KY; son of Rev. Burnie E. and Stella M. (Rowland) Jessup. Sarah Ann Jessup married Temple Windle, son of Temple Windle and Phebe Zirkle, on 23 November 1847 at La Porte Co., IN, 3 children born to the marriage, 2 living as of 1900, per census info.^1,3 Sarah Ann Jessup died on 16 October 1901 at Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN, at age 73. Pioneer Woman Dentist Is Dead
Dr. Edith Jewell Garrels Succumbs at Home in Arlington County
Dr. Edith Jewell Garrels, said to be one of the first women to practice dentistry in the District, died yesterday at her residence, Dawson Terrace, Mackeys Hill, Arlington County, Virginia.

Friends of Mrs. Garrels said that she was the first woman to be graduated in dentistry from any of the medical schools in Washington. She received her degree from the Medical School of the old Columbian College, now George Washington University in 1899. She was a member of the Gunton Temple Christian Church and the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the S.H. Hines Funeral Parlors, 2910 Fourteenth Street Northwest. The Rev. Barnard Baskamp, pastor of Gunton Temple Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery.
