Dr. Dale Brice Jillson, DVM, of Elgin, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, Nebraska. Dale, son of Dr. Paul M. and Juanita (Bartlett) Jillson, was born August 9, 1927 at Elgin, Nebraska.

Dale attended Elgin Public (NE.) High School, lettering in football and basketball, graduating with the class of 1945. He served his country in the Army Air Corps before attending college at University of Nebraska and graduating from Iowa State in 1953 with a degree in Veterinary Science.

Dale married Virginia Taylor on September 11, 1955 in Harlan, Iowa. After a few years living in Neligh, Nebraska, they moved in 1961 to his home community of Elgin. He served his community as a veterinarian for 43 years before retiring in 1997. He considered himself a lifelong resident of Elgin, Nebraska.

In the early years he served as a school board member and assisted with community celebrations. He also contributed as a volunteer fire fighter and chaired the Ice Cream Social for many years. A member of the United Methodist Church, he served on various committees throughout the years. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Diamond Lodge #291 A.M. and F.M. He was an avid sports enthusiast following Elgin and Nebraska sports. Dale was a devoted husband and father.

Dale is survived by: daughters, Kathryn Jillson and husband Steve Cook of Strongsville, Ohio, Kristine Boyer and husband Ray of Salina, Kansas, Elizabeth Jillson-Clark and husband Roger of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mary Jillson and husband James Heesacker of LaVista, Nebraska eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers-in-law: Kenneth D. Bennett of Elgin, Nebraska and Dwight (Darlene) Taylor of St. Charles, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Lucille Jillson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Shari Jillson of Des Moines, Iowa and a host relatives and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Virginia Jillson in 2004; brothers, Ted, Paul and Gene Jillson and sister, Jerrene Bennett.

Interment was in the West Cedar Valley Cemetery, Elgin, Nebraska with military rites by American Legion Post #229 and VFW Post #5816 of Elgin, Nebraska.

He was buried in June 2013 at West Cedar Valley Cemetery, Elgin, Antelope Co., NE, Findagrave #77258970.

Jerrene Joyce Jillson married Kenneth Dale Bennett, son of William Harrison Bennett and Alma Petersen, on 23 March 1947 at Presbyterian Church, Elgin, Antelope Co., NE. Jerrene Joyce Bennett, daughter of Dr. Paul M. and Juanita (Bartlett) Jillson, was born May 3, 1924 at Elgin, NE. She attended Elgin Public Schools, graduated from Elgin High School in 1942, and taught country school for a year, riding a horse to school. She then furthered her education at Midland College in Fremont and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Nursing in 1946 as a Registered Nurse.

On March 23, 1947, Jerrene was united in marriage with Kenneth D. Bennett at the Presbyterian Church in Elgin, NE. The couple lived in Pensacola, FL for five months until Kenneth was honorably discharged from the service. They returned to Nebraska and made there home in Elgin, NE. Jerrene worked as a registered nurse for 20 years in nursing homes in Neligh and Tilden.

Jerrene was an Admiral of the Nebraska Navy, a devoted volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Drives, an original and long-term member of the Elgin EMT's, and worked for more than 10 years as the head nurse at the "Girls' State" event. Jerrene was extremely involved in the republican party; both at the state and national levels. Jerrene enjoyed her work, her volunteerism, her family and playing Bridge.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Bennett of Elgin, NE; two sons: Michael Bennett and his wife Peggy of Kennesaw, GA; William P. Bennett, Sr and wife JoAnne of Papillion, NE; six grandchildren: Michelle (Bryan) Howley; Christopher Bennett; Courtney S. (Schyler) Fricke; William "Paul" Bennett Jr. and fiancé Allison Leapley; Whitney A. Bennett; Matthew H. Bennett; one great-granddaughter: Brooklynn Howley; and one brother: Dr. Dale Jillson of Elgin, NE.

Jerrene was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Ted, Paul and Gene Jillson.

She was buried in May 2011 at West Cedar Valley Cemetery, Elgin, Antelope Co., NE, Find A Grave Memorial# 69631438.

Canton - Bill F. Joachim, 76, of 144 W. Birch died at 1:12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Fulton County to Charles and Mary F. Pigg Joachim.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (and Patty) and Steve (and Lisa), both of Canton; one daughter, Rebekah Lowe of Canton; seven grandchildren; one step grandchild; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Benny of Mesa, Ariz., Don of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Ilo of El Dorado, Kan; one sister, Carol (and Richard) Leezer of Cuba; and Jackie Trotter, who helped care for him.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Cuba American Legion.
He was a driver for Canton Ready Mix for several years and later worked for the Canton Water Department.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Canton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dr. Robert Holler will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Village of Smithfield World War II Veterans Memorial or Red Brick School.

Note: Bill's obituary says he is going to be buried in White Chapel Memory Gardins but his stone is in the Baughman Cemetery.

Smithfield - Services for Dawson W. "Yogi" Joachim, 74, of Smithfield, who was pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1993, in Graham Hospital emergency room, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hukill-Henry Memorial Home in Cuba. The Rev. Lance Leeds will officiate.
He was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Canton-Cuba Blacktop.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the memorial home. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield.
Born March 17, 1919, in Smithfield to Charles and Mary Frances Pigg Joachim, he married Zelta K. Hart on Sept. 1, 1948, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, David W. of Bartonville; one daughter, Kathy Schauwecker of Oceanside, Calif; two grandchildren; four brothers, Orval of Mesa, Ariz., Don of Bullhead City, Ariz., Bill of Canton and Ilo of Wichita, Kan; and one sister, Caroline Leezer of Cuba. He was preceded in death by an infant son and one brother.
He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville for 26 years, retiring in the early 1980s. A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the Cuba American Legion Post.
Memorials may be made to Brock United Methodist Church or The Red Brick School at Smithfield.

He was buried in September 1993 at Baughman Cemetery, Smithfield, Fulton Co., IL.
