Former Pastor Returns For Revival Service

DONNA -- The Rev. Warren Johnson, the first pastor of the Donna Foursquare Gospel Church, has returned to conduct a revival which began Monday and will continue through Sunday. The revival marks the 40th anniversary of the church, according to the Rev. Myron Corser, pastor.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Johnson came to Donna in the fall of 1936 to assume the responsibility of a tent meeting that had been in progress for several weeks under the direction of Dr. and Mrs. Fred D. Beard. The tent was later destroyed by fire, and the services were moved to a store building.

By the spring of 1937 the present church property had been purchased, and the first unit of the Foursquare Church was in use.

Since leaving Donna, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have ministered in many areas. Foursquare churches they have pastored include those in Rochelle, Ill., Minneapolis, Minn., and Vancouver, B. C., Canada where for six years in addition to pastoring, the responsibility included the supervision of L.I.F.E Bible College.

Other pastorates include Foursquare Churches in Pomona, San Jose and Crescent City, Calif., and Denver, Col. Also a number of years were spent as evangelists including a year as missionary evangelist ministering in Japan, Okinawa, Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia.

Recently the Johnsons served as staff evangelists in the Foursquare Church in Decatur, Ill. and most recently as staff members as a part of the ministerial staff of Angelus Temple, Los Angeles, Calif.

The revival services will continue march 8 through 11 at 7:30 p.m. with closing service Sunday at 11 a.m.
