Obituary (Findagrave.com):

Delores "Jean" Munsinger July 15, 1928 - June 3, 2016

Delores "Jean" Munsinger was born in Sidney, Iowa, on July 15, 1928, to Loyal G. and Lucille (Gray) Johnson and departed this life on June 3, 2016, at Windsor Manor in Shenandoah, Iowa. After graduating from Sidney High School, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Hopkins for a short time until her marriage.

During her high school years, she met a special young fellow at a community dance, and on April 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Luther Munsinger, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2006. Born to this union were her surviving children, Carol (Richard) Good of Tarkio, MO, Merril (Donna) Munsinger of Coin, IA and Linda (Jon) Ahlquist of Tallahassee, FL. Also left to celebrate her life are grandchildren Monte (Shawn) Munsinger and Kim (Julio) Ruiz of Shenandoah, IA, Nathan (Julie) Good of Wyoming, MN, Justin (Heidi) Good of New Berlin, WI, Jessica (Brett) Garrett of Tarkio, MO, Sigrun Ahlquist of Tallahassee and Kristen Ahlquist of Cleveland, OH; and great-grandchildren Erica, Mariah, Alexa Munsinger; Dylan Good and Nick Hendry; Wyatt Good and Isabelle and Nathan Zens; special niece Donna (Bob) Farrell of Broomfield, CO, numerous nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn (Munsinger) Williams of Superior, NE.

Her priority was her home and her family, who thank her for instilling a strong work ethic, faith, and the importance of honor and love. She was one of those multi-talented farm wives who could not only cook and clean, but also complete basic construction of shelves, garden fences, and brick walls. Jean loved working outside in the garden and yard. She took pride in her flowers and garden and worked diligently to preserve her fruits and vegetables for her family to enjoy at those special family gatherings. And she was always able to stretch a meal on short notice to provide for surprise guests that Luther would invite. She also sewed and mended clothes, cut and permed hair, separated milk and cream (and on Sundays hurried to complete the washing of the separator so that she could get to church on time to teach a Sunday school class), gathered dozens of eggs and candled them all, and butchered chickens. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their endeavors and took pride in all their accomplishments in 4-H, academics, music, drama, and sports. She was humbly honored to receive an award from the women of the UMW for always providing a requested special dish for church events. And Jean really enjoyed her special group of ladies of the Visit Awhile Club.

She was buried in June 2016 at Sidney Cemetery, Sidney, Fremont Co., IA, Findagrave #163838003.
