Rita Kay Johnson Lewyckyj, 58, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, May 12, 2005.

She was born July 12, 1946, in Dearborn, Mich., and moved to this area in 1986 from Garden City, Mich.

She enjoyed her career as a nurse for 29 years and she also volunteered her time in the fight against breast cancer. She was a devoted, loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Lew Lewyckyj of Port Charlotte; sons, Robert Salter of Shreveport, La., and John (Heather) Salter of Melbourne, Fla; daughter, Lisa Salter of San Bernardino, Calif; father and stepmother, Robert and Loretta Johnson, winter residents of Port Charlotte, Fla; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Lois Wilma Anderson; and a brother, Ronald Lee Johnson.

Private services were held locally. A memorial service will be held at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Ind., at a later date.

Kays Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Nelson and Elsie Mae Huston, on 29 May 1942 at Indiana, Robert later remarried, first to Beatrice Pauline Deacon (1919 - 1992) and second in 2001 to Loretta Jean Williams (1923 -- 2019). Robert passed away in the Washington County Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Motsinger) Johnson.

Robert married May 27, 1977 to Beatrice P. (Deacon) Johnson, who passed away December 2, 1992. He next married in 2001 to Loretta J. (Williams) Robison Johnson, who survives. He was a tool and die maker at the Ford Engineering Plant in Dearborn, Michigan for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Robert attended the Livonia Presbyterian Church, served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Little York Masonic Lodge #512 F. & A.M. for over 50 years.

Survivors include: stepson, Harvey Daley of Livonia, Michigan; stepdaughter, Kay (John) Begley of Louisville, Kentucky, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.

He was buried in October 2009 at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Washington Co., IN, Findagrave #43585094.

He was born Feb. 15, 1938, near Shellsburg, son of Robert S. and Marjorie Primrose Johnson. He married Karen Bauer on Aug. 15 1959, in Brandon.

Mr. Johnson graduated from La Porte City High School in 1956, and he served in the U.S. Army and in Army Reserves. He was employed as a carpenter for many years and was presently employed at Sullivan's Grocery, Lena.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Brenda (Rod) Hale and Toni Reed (Todd Lloyd), both of Lena; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; a son-in-law Dave Reed; two sisters, Dolores (Myron) Thorn of Las Vegas and Pat (Gary) Knoop of Hiawatha; and a brother, Ron of Marion.

Preceded in death by: two grandsons; and a brother, Tom.

Miss Ruby M. Johnson of Independence, and the Rev. Warren Johnson of Vinton were married Thursday by the Rev. Warren Koon, pastor of the local Foursquare church. The ceremony was performed at the Little Brown church near Nashua.

Mrs. Adelbert Williams, sister of the bride, and Adelbert Williams attended the couple. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson of Vinton.

Mrs. Johnson is a graduate of Washington high school and of L.I.F.E. Bible school of Los Angeles, Calif. For the last two and a half years she has been co-pastor of the Foursquare church at Independence. The bridegroom is a graduate of the L.I.F.E. Bible school.

The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will be at home at Cleveland, Miss. after Oct. 15. They are taking the pastorate of a church in Cleveland.

The Rev. Ruby M.. Johnson, 79, died Saturday evening in Virginia Gay Hospital following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.

Survivors include her husband, C. Warren; a son, Daniel of Dallas, Texas; and a brother, Edward Johnson of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Timothy of San Jose, Calif., and Tami Lynn and Tiffany, both of Fresno, Calif; and a great-granddaughter, Haley.

She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg, Benton Co., IA, Findagrave #11474517.
