Usher King

M, b. 21 January 1891, d. May 1976
Usher King was born on 21 January 1891 at Crawford Co., IL. He was the son of John Owen King and Nettie May Abbott. Usher King married Margaret T. Langworthy on 5 July 1913 at Salt Lake Co., UT; The Western States Marriage Record Index shows her name as Mrs. Margaret T. McChesney. There was a Mrs. Margaret McChesny, born MAY 1889, who was Margaret Langworthy, the wife of Herbert Edward McChesney (1885 - 1929) -- they were married 4 FEB 1909 in Kossuth County, Iowa. But that Margaret McChesney had a son Lester born 22 NOV 1911 and a son Edwin born 23 SEP 1913, both in Kossuth County, so she seems highly unlikely to be the person who married Usher King in July, 1913. No other matching Martha McChesneys appear to be listed in public records. DLB 2022.

Usher King and Margaret T. Langworthy were divorced in August 1916 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., UT. Usher King married Florence Hawkins circa 1917; no children, per divorce decree. Florence remarried to J. Byers Hunley in 1933 at Edwards County, Illinois, and was living with him at St. Louis, Missouri as of the April 1940 federal census, No further record found.
Note: Left arm amputated above elbow, occupation bookkeeper, per WW I draft registration. Usher King lived on 10 April 1930 at Adams Twp., Hamilton Co., IN; unemployed.1 He and Florence Hawkins were divorced on 11 April 1933 at Garland, Miller Co., AR; ; granted to Usher, based on absence. Usher King died in May 1976 at Eaton, Crawford Co., IL, at age 85. He was buried in 1976 at Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, Crawford Co., IL, Findagrave #130305708.
