Prominent Farmer Ends Life with Revolver.
BRISTORIA, April 16 - After making a bed of hay in his stable Roseberry Kinney, one of the best known farmers and stockraisers of Greene county calmly lay down on it and fired a bullet from a 32 calibre revolver through his head at his home at Bristoria, Saturday at 11 o'clock. He was found a short time after the bullet had torn its way through his head and although he was still conscious he made no statement as to why he had fired the shot which proved fatal. His death occurred about one hour after the shooting took place, and before a physician arrived on the scene....
Kinney was one of the most intelligent and industrious farmers of this section of Greene county and his wife and family have the sympathy of a large number of friends. Kinney was 41 years of age and besides his wife who was Laura Tharp, to whom he was married four years age, he leaves two children, Hallie, ages 3 years, and Wilma Virginia, aged 2 months. His mother, Mrs. Rebecca Kinney, of Delphene, also survives with the following brothers and sisters: George Kinney, William Kinney, and Robert Kinney, of near Bristoria; Mrs. James Fletcher and Mrs. John Pascoe [Pethtel], of Bristoria.

     William Kinney was born in January 1847 at Greene Co., PA. He married Rebecca E. Davis. William Kinney died on 23 September 1904 at Greene Co., PA, at age 57 A sad tragedy was enacted in Jackson township, this county, on last Friday, William Kinney, a prominent and wealthy citizen, of near White Cottage taking his life. He was at the time suffering a derangement of the mind which caused him to commit the deed...he "came to his death by a gun shot wound, inflicted by his own hands."
Mr. Kinney was about fifty-five years of age and leaves to survive him, and mourn his departure, a wife and six children. The sons are: Roseberry, George, William and Robert and the daughters: Mrs. Belle Pethtel, and Mrs. Emma Fletcher. Two children are dead...
The funeral was held on Sabbath, at 10 a. m., services being conducted by Rev. J. M. Murray. The attendance was very large, more than three-quarters of an hour being required for those present to pass the casket in taking leave. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the home.

     Guy Ellsworth Kinsey was also known as "Jack". He was born on 9 May 1918 at High Gate, Maries Co., MO; son of Wilton Mathew and Nellie M. (Love) Kinsey. He was the son of Wilton Matthew Kinsey and Nellie Mae Love. Guy Ellsworth Kinsey married Helen Naomi Davault, daughter of Rainey Forrest Davault and Iva Louvonie Gray, on 26 September 1940. Guy Ellsworth Kinsey began military service WW II service, U.S. Army Air Corps, Cpl., Good Conduct medal. Occupation: worked for Ford Motor Company, later Keystone Seed Company, first in St. Louis, MO, then transferred to the Hollister, CA district. He lived at Gilroy, Santa Clara Co., CA, until retirement. He died on 9 October 2009 at St. James, Phelps Co., MO, at age 91

Guy Ellsworth (Jack) Kinsey was born at High Gate, Missouri on May 9, 1918 to Wilton Kinsey and Nellie (Love) Kinsey and passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James, Missouri, at the age of 91 years.

Guy was united in marriage to Ida Mae (Bullock) Kinsey (of St. James, Missouri) on September 26, 1966, in Potosi, Missouri.

Guy Kinsey is survived in death by his loving wife, Ida Mae (Bullock) Kinsey of St. James, Missouri, his son and wife, Gary Lee and Joann Kinsey, Galena, Missouri; son and wife, Lee Odell and Darlene Frey, St. James, Missouri; daughter and husband, Barbara and Kenneth Keeney, St.
James, Missouri. Grandchildren; Matt Kinsey and wife Cammie, Ft. Worth, Texas, Helen Fields and husband Mike,Wentzville, Missouri; Matt and Freddie Keeney and Donald Keeney and wife Melissa, all of St. James, Missouri and nine great-grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilton Kinsey, mother, Nellie (Love) Kinsey, brother, Max Kinsey, and his first wife, Helen (Devault) Kinsey, who died in childbirth.

Guy Kinsey graduated from the University of Missouri, Rolla, with a business administration degree.? ? Guy served his country proudly during World War II as a Corporal in the United States Army/Air Force. He received a Good Conduct Medal during his military service. Guy worked for the Ford Motor Company and later went to work for the Keystone Seed Company in St. Louis, Missouri and then transferred to Keystone Seed Company in Hollister, California. He and his wife Ida Mae lived in Gilroy, California until his retirement. Guy loved wood carving, reading westerns, keeping in touch with friends, going to church, and serving God. He served as head usher at the First Baptist Church in St. James,Missouri for many years.

Services: Guy Kinsey will lie in state Sunday October 11, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Jones Funeral Chapel in St. James, Missouri. Rev. Michael Ryan officiating. Burial was held at High Gate Cemetery, High Gate, Missouri with full military honors.

Memorial may be given to the American Cancer Society.

All arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
