Ella was born January 5, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Mathilda "Tillie" Bell Kruse on the family farm near Fulton, Illinois. In 1938, Ella married Orin C. Naeve, Sr. in Clinton, Iowa. Orin passed away in 1967. Ella was educated at Frog Pond Country School near Fulton.

She worked at several nursing homes, hospitals, restaurants and the Sabula Speaker Factory.

Ella loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She very much enjoyed taking care of her animals and her garden.

Ella is survived by her three sons, Orin (Sheryl) Naeve, Jr. of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Richard (Sherri) Naeve of Clinton, Iowa and Donald (Sue) Naeve of Sabula, Iowa; six granddaughters, Erica, Toni, Nikki, Julie, Deyenna and Denise; two grandsons, Dillon and Mark; fourteen great grandchildren, one sister, Betty Rathje of Sabula and one brother, Charles Kruse, Jr. of Maquoketa, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Ron and Lorin; one brother, Carl; one sister, Marian and one grandson, Brian.

She was buried in March 2006 at Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Carroll Co., IL, Findagrave #25739834.

Richard Jude Krzyzanski Battle Creek Richard Jude Krzyzanski, 68, a native of Milwaukee, WI, and a resident of Battle Creek, went home to be with Jesus on His birthday (December 25, 2008) after spending his final months in the love and care of his children and grandchildren.

He was born on May 15, 1940 to Rose and Raymond Krzyzanski, the second of five sons. Richard attended school at St. Mary's Catholic School until 8th grade, and went to Bronson High School. He attended Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek.

Richard worked in sales for most of his life, most recently as an independent masonry and restoration contractor.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Raymond and his older brother, Ronald. He is survived by his mother, Rose; three younger brothers; estranged wife, Jacqueline and ex-wife, Barbara, mother of his eight children: Kelli (Joseph) Boggio of Climax, Ann Gagne-Valentine of Battle Creek, John Krzyzanski of Virginia, Matthew Krzyzanski, Theresa (Kevin) Snyder, Rachel (Damon) Walker, Elizabeth (David) Waite and Richard Krzyzanski, all of Battle Creek; and 21 grandchildren.

Richard was a talented artist and writer. He wrote a weekly column for the Battle Creek Enquirer called "Watching Them Grow", a chronical of the trials and tribulations associated with raising eight children. When his children were young, Richard was very involved with St. Philip Parish. He was active in the Charismatic Renewal and taught Catechism classes to the young people in the Parish. Richard was an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting, fishing and karaoke. He was a lover of nature and animals and passed this love on to his children and grandchildren.

At the request of the family, they will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. A memorial Mass to celebrate Richard's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek, followed by a burial service in the chapel at Oak Hill Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to his children, would be appreciated. Verna moved to Aberdeen in 1959 and has resided here since that time. Verna married Calvin Liedle Sept. 16, 1961, at Aberdeen. Verna worked at Burckhard Bakery for many years until they closed. She later worked at Burger King and was still employed with the restaurant at the time of her death. Verna enjoyed dancing, working in her yard and in her flower gardens. Verna was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and Chicago Cubs Baseball fan. Surviving Verna are her special friend and fiancé, Adam Reich Sr. of Aberdeen; her daughters, Judy (Tim) Bihary of Pasco, Wash., Joyce (Bruce) Haerter of Hosmer, S.D., and Jill Metzinger of Aberdeen; sons, Gary (Lorraine) Liedle of Aberdeen, Stan Liedle of California and Randy Metzinger of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren: Ian Bihary, Joseph (Elli) Haerter, Kayla Haerter, Morgan Metzinger, Rabecka Metzinger, Stacy (Cary) Bauer and Charlene (Landon) Jensen; seven great-grandchildren: Theodore Haerter, Avery Haerter, Brandon Bauer, Shelby Bauer, Rogue Jensen, Kya Jensen and Travis Liedle and one sister, Ella Susan of Washington. Verna was preceded in death by both husbands; two sons, Gary Everitt and Mark Liedle; four brothers and one sister.
