He married Evelyn DaVault, daughter of Bruce Everett DaVault and Frances Henrietta Vanderpool, on 17 November 1942 at Newkirk, Kay Co., OK; Ceremony by James O. Lynch, J.P. Her surname is spelled "Phelps" on the marriage license application -- apparently a misunderstanding of "Fell". Rufus had a prior marriage to an Isabel, maiden name unknown. They had a daughter, Donna, born 1927. Donna had a brief marriage to a McNamara, and lived out her life in Wichita, but had no children of her own. She passed in 1989 and is buried at El Dorado, in the Sunset Lawns Cemetery, where her mother and step-father, Carl Pfaff, are buried.

Rufus Martin Arp began military service on 21 November 1942 WW II service, U.S. Army, enlisted, discharged 8 MAR 1943. He lived on 17 April 1950 at 252 Natalie Drive, Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM, Head of household, salesman, grocery brokerage.1 He died on 20 March 1984 at age 79. He was buried in March 1984 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, Pratt Co., KS, Findagrave #76139462.

Mrs. George L. DeVed

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p. m. from Weers Funeral Home, Sykesville, for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth DeVed, wife of George L. DeVed who passed away Jan. 16 at Maryland General hospital, Baltimore, where she had been a patient for 13 weeks. Daughter of Mrs. Margaret Arrington and the late Frank Arrington of Sykesville, she was 40 years of age. In 1930 she was graduated as a nurse from West Baltimore General hospital and a year later was married to Mr. DeVed and they resided in Baltimore. Surviving besides her husband and mother are two brothers, Thomas and Edward Arrington, and three sisters, Mrs. J. C. Fitze, Woodlawn, Baltimore; Mrs. John Oursler and Mrs. David Dean of Sykesville. The Rev. C. H. Shaw of New Windsor officiated. The pallbearers were Walter Bennett, William Kidd, John Baker, Walter Sayers, Walter Hobbs and Alec Cauthorn. Interment was in Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville.

She was buried in January 1946 at Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville, Carroll Co., MD, Findagrave #38024420.
