Daniel Edwin Lammers, 9, of 908 Clarke St., Old Hickory, a fourth grader at Dupont Elementary School, died yesterday of meningitis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Hermitage Memorial Chapel. Father William Bevington will officiate.
Burial will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The body is at Hibbett & Haley Funeral Home.
"This is the seventh case of meningitis reported in Nashville Davidson County this year," said Metro Health Director Dr. Joseph Bistowish. "This is the second death this year in Nashville attributed to the virus."
Lammers was quarterback of his junior pro football team and was named most valuable player this year.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Lammers, Old Hickory; a sister, Charity Lammers, Old Hickory; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Nichol, Old Hickory, and Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Lammers, Donelson, and great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Glass, Madison.
