Susan Larimore

F, b. circa 1819, d. before 12 June 1900
Susan Larimore was born circa 1819 at Three Churches, Hampshire Co., VA, 1850 shows age 32 (same as husband) later censuses indicate birth years of 1819 or 1821.1,2 She was the daughter of Joseph Larimore and Ary Warner. Susan Larimore married William Henry Winterstein, son of Nicholas Winterstein and Ruth Blue, on 25 August 1839 at Des Moines, IA.1 Susan Larimore died before 12 June 1900 at Goldendale, Klickitat Co., WA.
Note: From History of Johnson County, Iowa:

"Among other early settlers in Johnson County, there was a family by the name of LARAMORE who came from Virginia. Mr. And Mrs. Laramore were the parents of seven daughters, some of whom remained in the East. Their daughter, SUSAN LARAMORE, became the wife of William Winterstien Sr., and by him had ten children, four of whom are now living, viz.: William Jr., our subject; Jerome W., who resides in Waveland Township, Pottawattamie County; Philip, a resident of Hastings, Nebraska; and Franklin, who lives near Goldendale, Washington. Mr. And Mrs. Winterstien in 1850 went overland to California with ox teams, spending the first winter at Carson City, then called Gold Canon. After a sojourn of six years in California, they returned to Iowa, coming via water to New York and thence to Johnson County. They subsequently went to Kansas where they lived some ten or twelve yers, and then removed to Washington, where they now reside. The father is 74 years old and the mother is 72. During the Late War, Mr. Winterstien enlisted in the 22nd Iowa Infantry as a recruit."

Susan Larimore was born in July 1881 at Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory (now OK).1 She was the daughter of Green Upshur Larimore and Barbara Ellen Whipkey.1
Note:

Multiple online genealogies, plus Findagrave.com, show this individual as "Annie" Larimore who married George A. Neeley on 20 SEP 1900 at Muskogee County. This notion is strongly supported by the fact that Anna (Larimore) Neeley was buried in Oglesby Cemetery where Green and Barbara Larimore and several of their children are also buried.

I believe Susan Larimore, daughter of Green and Barbara (Whipkey) Larimore did not become Anna Larimore, wife of George Neeley. There was another Anna Larimore who better fits the demographic characteristics of George Neeley's wife. This was Anna Larimore, daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Blocher) Larimore, born 1880 in Mercer County, Missouri and lived in June, 1900 with her grandmother Blocher in Benton County, Arkansas, just over the border from Oklahoma. The 1910 census lists Annie Neeley's birth location as Missouri.

The fate of Susan Larimore, daughter of Green U. Larimore, is unknown at this time. DLB 2020.

Susan Caroline Larimore

F, b. 20 February 1828, d. 5 February 1900
Note: "These Build Civilization", pp. 31-32 says her two husbands were unrelated. The book does not clarify which children were from each marriage. The family with her first husband is found in the 1850 census in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Since Caroline was only 22, and her husband was ten years older, the 5-year old daughter Mary was likely from a prior marriage of Lewis Williams, and I have listed her that way. By 1860 when she is found in Cumberland County she had already remarried. Best guess is that, since Walter was 4 and there were no younger children living as of 1860, the second marriage occurred in the late 1850s and the balance of children after Walter were from the second marriage. DLB 2011.
