"Accident Takes Life of Charles Leary, 76."

Charles E. Leary, 76, a long time Jesup area resident, died at People's Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m., three hours after he had been injured in a pedestrian-truck accident at an intersection at Independence. Eugene L. Spece, 35, of Independence, was driver of the truck. According to a statement given to police, he was driving east on the main street toward the Second Ave. stop light. Another vehicle had stopped for the light in an outside lane. Spece, traveling in the center lane had stopped one or two lengths west of the intersection. According to Spece, when the light changed, Leary walked or ran in front of the vehicle in the outside lane and into the side of his one and half ton truck at about 2:50 p.m. Mr. Leary died of a skull fracture. He was born July 14, 1887, at Lacon, Ill., the son of John and Mary Wills Leary. He was united in marriage with Miss Beulah Trumbauer at Dunkerton March 20, 1907. They farmed in the Jesup area from 1907 to 1947 when they moved to their farm near Dunkerton. He had been a resident of Independence about two months. Surviving are his wife, Beulah, and five children, Lloyd of Freeport, IL; Robert and Mrs. Harry Baldwin of Jesup; Raymond of Walker, and Mrs. L.J. Forney, of Seville, Ohio. Also surviving are three brothers, Ora, of Manchester; Owen and Harry of Walker; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George, and a grandson, Charles Baldwin. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Parker Funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Carlson, pastor of the Methodist church at Independence, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Crest Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Melvin Anderson, W.D. Patten, Albert Strauel, Bert Phillips, Harry Short and Elmer Fuller.

Dr. Frank P. Leatherman Dies Saturday At His Home In Outville
Dr. Frank P. Leatherman for more than 35 years a practicing physician at Outville, died in his home at Outville shortly before 6 o'clock Saturday morning. His death came on the 59th anniversary of his birth, and followed an illness of more than two months with heart trouble. He was twice a patient in Grant hospital, Columbus, taking treatment for the malady. He had been at his home for the last month.
Dr. Leatherman began his practice at Outville immediately after finishing medical studies in college. By reason of his 35 years of activity in the medical profession, he was widely known over the county, particularly in the western part.
Dr. Leatherman is survived by his widow, Mrs. Etta Leatherman; one brother, Dr. O. J. Leatherman of Thornport, and four sisters, Miss Layra Leatherman of Nashport, Mrs. Celia Denman of Reform, Mrs. Ettie Beal of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ida McCann of Perryton.
The body lay in state in his office at Outville until the hour of the funeral which was held Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Dr. C. L. Williams, of Granville, officiated at the services. Burial was made in Maple Grove cemetery, Granville.

Leatherman, Frank L., youngest son of Henry and Catharine (Lapp) Leatherman, was born Nov. 12, 1885, near Line Lexington, Pa; departed this life at his home in Line Lexington, on Aug. 15, 1956; aged 70 y. 9m. 3 d. Death was preceded by an illness over 7 years. In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church and remained a faithful member of the Line Lexington congregation, where he served in both Sunday school and church as long as health permitted. In 1915 he was united in marriage to Florence M. Ruth, who survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters and one son (Kathryn-Mrs. Norman Mininger, Quakertown, Pa; Sarah and Pauline, Line Lexington; Lois-Mrs. Henry Musselman, Souderton, Pa; Roscoe, Harleysville, Pa.), 8 grandchildren, one sister, and 2 brothers. Funeral services were conducted at the Line Lexington Church on Aug. 18 with merle Ruth and Claude Meyers officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Mininger was an active member of Rocky Ridge Mennonite Church in Quakertown‚ where she was a founding member and custodian for more than 35 years. She also helped with the home department and cradle roll.

She was survived by two daughters‚ Lucille "Lucy" Price and her husband‚ Ken‚ of Granger‚ IN and Lois Mininger of Quakerton; a son‚ Philip P. Mininger and his wife‚ Phyllis‚ of Perkasie; five grandchildren‚ David‚ Daniel‚ Justin‚ Jeff and Mike; a brother‚ Roscoe Leatherman of Souderton; and two sisters‚ Lois Mussleman and her husband‚ Henry‚ and Sarah Leatherman all of Souderton.

In addition to her husband‚ she was preceded in death by an infant son‚ Norman David; and a sister‚ Pauline Leatherman.

Funeral services were held Saturday‚ Nov. 13‚ 2004 in the Rocky Ridge Mennonite Church in Quakertown. Interment was in Rocky Ridge Mennonite Cemetery‚ Quakertown.

She was buried in November 2004 at Rocky Ridge Mennonite Cemetery, Quakertown, Bucks Co., PA, Find A Grave Memorial# 78571409.
