     Paul Lehman was born on 25 November 1871. He was the son of Abraham S. Lehman and Amelia Stouffer.

     Perry Lehman was born in May 1863 at Ohio.¹ He was the son of William Lehman and Abigail (?)² Perry Lehman married Dorcas Christina Hartman, daughter of Robert Hartman and Martha Nutter, circa 1898.¹

     Robert Share Lehman was born on 30 December 1880 at Hillsdale Co., MI. He was the son of Abraham S. Lehman and Amelia Stouffer.

     Ruth S. Lehman was born in January 1882 at Leitersburg Dist., Washington Co., MD.¹ She was the daughter of Abraham Lehman and Emma Virginia Stouffer.¹

     Susannah Lehman was born after 1765. She married Johannes Swartz, son of Johann Martin Swartz, on 4 July 1787 at Shenandoah Co., VA. Susannah Lehman died on 3 November 1848 at Virginia.

     William Lehman was born circa 1829 at Ohio.¹ He married Abigail (?).¹

     William Lehman was born on 18 May 1876 at Shelby Co., IA. He married Cora Elise Ray in 1917 at Iowa. William Lehman died on 11 March 1954 at Kingsley, Plymouth Co., IA, at age 77.

     William Frederick Lehman was born on 2 May 1864. He was the son of Benjamin Lehman and Sarah Stover. William Frederick Lehman died on 23 July 1933 at age 69.

     William H. Lehman was born in April 1898 at Green Twp. (probably), Hocking Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Perry Lehman and Dorcas Christina Hartman.¹

     Anna Johanna Lehn was born on 19 December 1857 at Washtenaw Co., MI.¹ She married Nathaniel Schmid on 10 October 1878 at Washtenaw Co., MI. Anna Johanna Lehn died on 15 December 1935 at Washtenaw Co., MI, at age 77.

     Henry Lehn was born in 1793 at Lancaster Co., PA. He married Elizabeth Frick.¹ Henry Lehn died in 1872 at Williamsville, Erie Co., NY,

HISTORY OF LEHN FAMILY

Paper Prepared by Ida L. Zent and read at Old Home Day Reunion Saturday, August 4, 1923.

The Lehn family were among the early settlers in Williamsville.
John Frick was born in Lancaster County, Pennsyvania, in 1761, one hundred and sixty-two years ago.

In 1807, with his wife and seven children, he emigrated from Pennsylvania to Western New York, and after looking about for a suitable place in which to live he purchased a farm of Mr. St. John now known as the Lehn farm. The family lived there until the war of 1812. The barracks as we all know are about one-fourth of a mile fronm this farm, and while caring for the sick and wounded soldiers at the time Mr. Frick fell a victim to eyerwork and his body was laid to rest on his farm. Later the remains were interred on the Lehn lot at Harris Hill and now rest by the side of his daughter, Elizabeth Lehn.

The Frick family mreained on this farm until the burning of Buffalo, in 1813, when with many other settlers they returned to Pennsylvania, making the entire distance with teams, the only mode of travel at that time.

One of his family, Elizabeth, married Henry Lehn of Manheim, Pennsylvania, in 1819. Seven years later with two children, Mary and John Lehn, they came to Williamsville and purchased the farm formerly owned by Mrs. Lehn's father, John Frick, and for one hundred and sixteen years the property has been in the Lehn family, well known as the Lehn farm on Garrison road. A log house used to mark the place where the family made their first home in New York State, but was destroyed by some of the tenants. Later Mr. Lehn bought the house on Main Street now owned by Rupert Huck, obtained by him of the Lehn heirs, and in this home the family resided for over sixty years. While living here two more children were born, Nancy and Elizabeth Lehn.

At one time Grandma Lehn rode on Horseback to her old home in Pennsylvania, holding little Mary Lehn in her arms all of the way, and used to tell many thrilling stories of her journey.

Mary Lehn married Adam Rinewalt. Four children were born of this union, Sarah who married George Baine, Charlotte, who married Charles Ingersoll, and Henry and Adam L. Rinewalt. All of the family have passed on with the exception of Mrs. Charlotte B. Ingersoll, who at the present time is spending three months in traveling abroad, and is in her eighty-second year. Mary Lehn Rinewalt died at the age of seventy-five years.

John Lehn married Amelia Coe, one son Henry was born and now resides in Buffalo. John Lehn died at the age of eighty-three years.

Nancy Lehn married Philip J. Zent. One daughter Ida L. Zent was the result of this union, and is with us today. Nancy Lehn Zent died at the age of eighty-eight years.

Elizabeth Lehn, unmarried died when over eighty years of age.

Henry Lehn, the father, died at the age of seventy-five years. and the mother Elizabeth Lehn, was over ninty-years old when she died. The family for generations were very long lived.

GONE TO HER REWARD-Mrs. Elizabeth Lehn

The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Lehn occurred last Sunday afternoon at the Medodist Episcopal Church, and was largely attended. Revs. Mr. Smith of Sugar Grove, Pa. (deceased former pastor), assisted by Revs. Tippet and Smith of this village, conducted the service. The internment was made at Harris Hill Cemetery, and there by the side of her husband, who died in 1878, she was laid to rest, in blessed hope of a final resurrection and reunion.

Mrs. Lehn, the subject of the above notice, was one of the pioneers of Western New York. She was born in Lancaster County, Pa., Nov. 24, 1796; died Oct 28, 1886, and therefore within a few days of being ninty years of age. In 1807 her parents, with a family of seven emigrated from Pennsylvania to this county and located on a tract of land, a part of which was then occupied by the St. John family, whom her father subsequently bought out; later years the farm was better known as the Lehn Farm. When he first arrived in this section, and before having located, he proponed to a considerable extent looking for an investment. Buffalo at one time was only a small village, and land could be brought for a mere triffle. He had about decided to purchase what was than called the Buffalo Flats, a swamp land extending from the liberty pole down to the dock, when his friends perseuded him not to do so, on account of the swampy condition of the land. He therefore purchased the St John Farm. where he lived until the War of 1812 broke out, when caring for the sick and wounded soldiers, he fell victim to overwork and died. The family remained on the farm until the burning of Buffalo in 1813, when they, with many other settlers of this section, returned to Pennsylvania-going with teams, making the long distance by this tedious method of locomotion.

The deceased was married to Henry Lehn of Lancaster, Pa., in 1819, and in1825, with her husband and two children again returned to this village. Here they purchased the residence in which she died, being an occupent of the same sixty years. She leaves one son, John Lehn, three daughters, Mrs. A. Rinewalt, Mrs. N. E. Zent and Miss Elizabeth Lehn, all of this village, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren to charish and revere her memory. One aged brother lives in California-the last remaining member of fathers family.

     Mary Ann Lehn was born on 31 March 1820 at Lancaster Co., PA.¹ She was the daughter of Henry Lehn and Elizabeth Frick.¹ Mary Ann Lehn married Adam Rinewalt, son of Adam Rinewalt and Hannah Price, on 9 January 1840.¹ Mary Ann Lehn died on 16 December 1895 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY, at age 75.¹ She was buried in December 1895 at Williamsville Cemetery, Williamsville, Erie Co., NY, Findagrave #45334198.

     Johanna Lehnert married Georg Karl Triem, son of Daniel Triem and Elisabetha Winterle. Johanna Lehnert was born on 1 February 1903. She died on 13 May 1970 at age 67.

     Harold Eugene Leib was born on 15 October 1913. He married Ruth Rosalee Edwards on 4 August 1935 at Phillips Co., MT. Harold Eugene Leib died on 17 March 2002 at age 88 dates per SSDI, last restidence Deer Park, Spokane Co., WA.

     Occupation: Küfer aus Bern in der Schweiz.
Note: Surname from "Leib und Gut." Johannes Leibengut was born at Switzerland. He married Judith Butz, daughter of Jean Poutz and Jeanne Pasquet.

     Eva Rosina Leibenguth was born on 11 November 1660 at Otterberg, Palatinate (now Rhein-Pfalz), Germany. She was the daughter of Johannes Leibengut and Judith Butz. Eva Rosina Leibenguth married Wilhelm Munzinger, son of Hans Reinhard Munzinger and Margaretha (?), on 11 June 1683 at Otterberg, Palatinate. Eva Rosina Leibenguth married Hans Theobald Buhles, son of Johann Michael Buhles and Catharina Wagner, on 28 November 1690 at Miesau, Palatinate.² Eva Rosina Leibenguth died on 10 May 1728 at Miesau, Palatinate (now Rhein-Pfalz), Germany, at age 67.

     Merrill Clifford Leibensberger was also known as Merril C. Lee Merrill legally changed his surname to "Lee" at some point fairly soon after his 1922 marriage. He was born on 13 December 1892 at Hazleton, Luzerne Co., PA. He was the son of Oliver Leibensberger and Dorothea E. Engleman. Merrill Clifford Leibensberger began military service on 6 September 1917 WW I service, U.S. Army, inducted, Btry. D, 311 Field Artiller, Camp Meade, MD, discharged 14 may 1918 to accept commission. He married Hope Thomas Gravely, daughter of Henry Clay Gravely and Ann Hope Thomas, on 25 April 1922 at Henry Co., VA. Occupation: Architect, commercial buildings.¹ Merrill Clifford Leibensberger died on 9 March 1981 at Richmond, Henrico Co., VA, at age 88.

     Oliver Leibensberger was born on 16 April 1861 at Berks Co., PA. He married Dorothea E. Engleman. Oliver Leibensberger died on 27 September 1938 at Hazleton, Luzerne Co., PA, at age 77

From Hazleton PA Plain Speaker, Wed. Sept. 28, 1938:
Oliver Leibensberger, aged 77 years, died at his home, 521 James street, at 1:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon of coronary thombosis. He was stricken ill at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Leibensberger was born in Berks county, a son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Leibensberger, but spent practically his entire life in this city. He was alderman of the Eleventh Ward and represented that ward in city council prior to the commission form of government. He was an architect and builder, a member of the Trinity Lutheran church, the Republican Club and the Trinity Lutheran Other Fellows Class.

Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Engleman Leibensberger, and the following children: Arthur, of Fort Fort; Charles, of Cleveland, Ohio; Merril C. Lee, of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. George MacMinn, of Schuylkill Haven. Also a sister, Mrs. Edward Darrow, of New London, Conn; two brothers, Jonathan Leibensberger, of this city, and Harry Leibensberger, of Brideport, Conn., and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted privately a the late residence, 521 James street, on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. H. Clay Berstresser officiating. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery.

He was buried in 1938 at Vine Street Cemetery, Hazleton, Luzerne Co., PA, Findagrave #139783910.

     Note: Jacob and Barbara Light were members of the Conestoga Brethren congregation, per Brumbaugh's History of the German Baptist Brethren.¹ Jacob Leichty married Barbara (?).

     Carl William Leidall was born on 13 December 1884 at South Dakota WW I draft registration.¹ He married Clara Severson after 28 June 1900. Carl William Leidall died on 28 April 1952 at Todd Co., MN, at age 67. He was buried in 1952 at Lakeview Cemetery, Marion, LaMoure Co., ND, Findagrave #103459175.

     Norma Leidall was born on 25 February 1923. She was the daughter of Carl William Leidall and Clara Severson.¹ Norma Leidall married Donald Oliver Brandt, son of Richard W. Brandt and Bertha H. Lemke, on 6 June 1944. Norma Leidall died on 31 August 1978 at Motley, Morrison Co., MN, at age 55. She was buried in September 1978 at Motley Public Cemetery, Todd Co., MN, Findagrave #191588070.

     Sarah Emma Fuss Leidig was born in 1863 at Pennsylvania. She married Christian Ebersole Metz in 1890 at Frederick Co., VA. Sarah Emma Fuss Leidig died in 1944.

     Benjamin Franklin Leidy married Susanna Detweiler, daughter of Samuel Detweiler and Elizabeth Lehman. Benjamin Franklin Leidy was born in 1841. He died in 1914.

     Emma Florence Leidy was born on 21 September 1871 at Canal Winchester, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Leidy and Susanna Detweiler. Emma Florence Leidy married Lewis Ulysses Grant Windle, son of John Hamilton Windle and Amanda Windle, on 16 December 1896 at Kalida, Putnam Co., OH. Emma Florence Leidy was buried in 1952 at Mt. Cory, Hancock Co., OH. She died on 14 January 1952 at Pandora, Putnam Co., OH, at age 80.

     Jonas Leidy married Elizabeth Cressman.¹

     Sarah A. Leidy was born on 28 February 1851.¹ She was the daughter of Jonas Leidy and Elizabeth Cressman.¹ Sarah A. Leidy married Joseph S. Ruth, son of Henry P. Ruth and Magdalena Swartley, on 27 November 1873.¹ Sarah A. Leidy died on 11 May 1912 at age 61.¹

     Dale F. Leiferman was born on 13 February 1921 at Bridgewater, McCook Co., SD. He began military service WW II service, U.S. Navy. He married Audrey Eileen Hoover, daughter of Kermit Wayne Hoover and Julia Irene McDonald. Dale F. Leiferman died on 9 June 1989 at Simi Valley, Ventura Co., CA, at age 68. He was buried in June 1989 at Simi Valley Public Cemetery, Simi Valley, Ventura Co., CA, Findagrave #73766166.

     Edward M. Leiff was born circa 1853 at New York.¹ He died after April 1930.

     Charles Edgar Leigh was born on 2 September 1890 at Worcester, Worcester Co., MA, Ancestry.com. Massachusetts, Birth Records, 1840-1915 [database on-line].      Foster H. Leigh was born in January 1848 at Indiana.¹ He married Emma A. Hammond circa 1871.¹ Foster H. Leigh died in 1918.
