Grayville Man Killed at Taylorville
Raymond Darrell Lingafelter, 22, of Grayville, died early Saturday morning of injuries he suffered when he was run over by an automobile Saturday near Taylorville.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lorth of Newtonville said Lingafelter was lying in the right lane of Highway 104 at 2 a.m. Saturday when their westbound car hit the body.
Lingafelter, Jerry Bunting of Albion and three other men, had been in Kincaid Saturday evening. Lingafelter had worked his first day Saturday in an oilfield near Kincaid.
James Jordan, Christian County coroner, said the men reported they had left a Kincaid tavern at 11 p.m. and had been driven to the Ranch Motel about a mile from Kincaid. Lingafelter returned to town with the driver and was last seen in a tavern at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Investigation as to how and why Lingefelter's body was stretched out on the highway is under way.
Lingafelter, Navy veteran, is survived by three sons, Allen Ray, Ricky Darrell and Joseph Robert; a brother, Larry of Grayville; a sister, Mrs. Tincie Wood, Grayville; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Lingefelter, Grayville; and a grandmother, Mrs. Tincie Rose of Metcalf.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Grayville Christian Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The body is at the Sturm Funeral Home.

Clare C. Lingenfelter, 90, of Red Bluff, passed away in Redding.
Clare was born in Bonaparte, Iowa to Fred and Marie McComb Lingenfelter. He was the eldest of identical twin boys.
When he was 3 years old his family moved to Red Bluff where they made their home for many years in the Dibble Creek area northwest of Red Bluff. He attended local schools and lived most of his life in Tehama County.
In November 1945, Clare married Mary Baker in Virginia City, Nevada. Mary preceded Clare in death after 51 years of marriage in December, 1996. Together they raised four children; sons Jimmie of Red Bluff, Stanley of Redding, William of Eureka and daughter Beverly Johnson of Red Bluff. Clare is also survived by his sister Mildred Williams of Red Bluff, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding Clare in death were his brothers Keith in 1984, Cecil in 1995 and George in 1959 as well as his granddaughter Nicole Lingenfelter in 1990.
Clare was in CCC when Shasta Dam was being built. He and his brother Cecil operated a service station in Red Bluff but for the most part he worked in the lumber industry retiring in 1981 from Paul Bunyan Lumber Company of Anderson, California.
Clare was an avid sports fan. He followed the local high school teams no matter what the sport was, going anywhere they happened to be playing. He could be seen in the bleachers at most games sitting along side his brother Cecil.
Clare will be greatly missed by family and loved ones but leaves us with many wonderful memories.
Funeral services for Clare were held at Chapel of the Flowers, Red Bluff, with J. Elmore Heitman officiating.
He was buried in May 2007 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA, Findagrave #19307970.

He was survived by his wife; mother; daughter, Mildred Christine Williams of Red Bluff; sons, Keith Edwin, (twins) Cecil E. and Clare C., and George Bruce, all of Red Bluff, grandson, Robert Cecil Lingenfelter, granddaughter, Suellen Williams; sisters, Mary Winifred Boling and Anna Laura Amos; and brothers, Ralph Chester Lingenfelter and Samuel Ray Lingenfelter.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Charles Leslie Lingenfelter.

He was survived by his wife; mother; daughter, Mildred Christine Williams of Red Bluff; sons, Keith Edwin, (twins) Cecil E. and Clare C., and George Bruce, all of Red Bluff, grandson, Robert Cecil Lingenfelter, granddaughter, Suellen Williams; sisters, Mary Winifred Boling and Anna Laura Amos; and brothers, Ralph Chester Lingenfelter and Samuel Ray Lingenfelter.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Charles Leslie Lingenfelter.
He was buried in May 1941 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA, Findagrave #11657731.
