     Edgar Allen Lingafelter was born on 18 April 1887 at Licking Twp., Crawford Co., IL; out of wedlock -- Clara had Richard "Dell" Lingafelter adjudged biological father of Edgar in a court proceeding. He was the son of Richard Ardell Lingafelter and Clara Eveline Rhodes. Edgar Allen Lingafelter married Mae Calista Culver, daughter of David Jackson Culver and Catherine Matilda Beabout, circa 1907. Edgar Allen Lingafelter died on 11 April 1956 at Crawford Co., IL, at age 68. He was buried in April 1956 at Kirk Cemetery, Robinson, Crawford Co., IL, Findagrave #43859156.

     Ernest Lyle Lingafelter was born on 30 April 1920 at Prairie Twp. (probably), Crawford Co., IL; SS Applications and Claims Index shows 1919, however, his parents' family was listed in January, 1920, Prairie Twp., Crawford County, and there was no baby younger than Clara Lucille listed. It was either 1920 or 1921, as per 1930 census (April). DLB 2021. He was the son of Edgar Allen Lingafelter and Mae Calista Culver. Ernest Lyle Lingafelter married Ruth Hazel Rose, daughter of Melvin B. Rose and Tincie Marie Smitley, on 19 October 1937 at Indiana. Ernest Lyle Lingafelter died on 2 February 1993 at White Co., IL, at age 72. He was buried in February 1993 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Grayville, Edwards Co., IL, Findagrave #109956294.

     Floyd Alvon Lingafelter Sr. was born on 28 December 1911 at Robinson, Crawford Co., IL. He was the son of Edgar Allen Lingafelter and Mae Calista Culver. Floyd Alvon Lingafelter Sr. married Marjorie Irene Rose, daughter of Melvin B. Rose and Tinci Smitley, on 19 November 1934. Floyd Alvon Lingafelter Sr. died on 21 July 1989 at Mt. Zion, Macon Co., IL, at age 77. He was buried in July 1989 at Kirk Cemetery, Robinson, Crawford Co., IL, Findagrave #75145078.

     James E. Lingafelter was born on 17 December 1829 at Huntingdon Co., PA. He was the son of Abraham Lingenfelter and Susannah Hagey.¹ James E. Lingafelter married Charlotte Helen Tyhurst on 30 March 1854 at the home of the bride, Licking Co., OH, Ceremony by Rev. McGill, M.E. Church. James E. Lingafelter died on 1 September 1919 at Crawford Co., IL, at age 89.

     Leo Wilson Lingafelter was born on 5 November 1912. He was the son of Charles B. Lingafelter and Nellie May Hart. Leo Wilson Lingafelter married Leona Christine Reynolds, daughter of Frank Reynolds and Cora Guyer, on 23 December 1933 at Robinson, Crawford Co., IL, Ceremony by Rev. T. J. Wheeler. Leo Wilson Lingafelter died on 2 June 1936 at Annapolis, Crawford Co., IL, at age 23.

     Lura A. Lingafelter was born in 1889 at Crawford Co., IL. She was the daughter of Daniel Isaac Lingafelter and Katie Florence Rhodes. Lura A. Lingafelter died on 4 July 1903 at Illinois.

     Ralph Allen Lingafelter was born on 15 February 1907. He was the son of Edgar Allen Lingafelter and Mae Calista Culver. Ralph Allen Lingafelter married Anna Mae Dawny on 19 December 1925. Ralph Allen Lingafelter died on 26 September 1967 at age 60.

     Raymond Darrell Lingafelter was born on 5 June 1939. He was the son of Ernest Lyle Lingafelter and Ruth Hazel Rose. Raymond Darrell Lingafelter began military service on 15 January 1957 U.S. Navy service, SN, enlisted, discharged 13 OCT 1960. He died on 12 May 1962 at Christian Co., IL, at age 22

Grayville Man Killed at Taylorville

Raymond Darrell Lingafelter, 22, of Grayville, died early Saturday morning of injuries he suffered when he was run over by an automobile Saturday near Taylorville.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lorth of Newtonville said Lingafelter was lying in the right lane of Highway 104 at 2 a.m. Saturday when their westbound car hit the body.

Lingafelter, Jerry Bunting of Albion and three other men, had been in Kincaid Saturday evening. Lingafelter had worked his first day Saturday in an oilfield near Kincaid.

James Jordan, Christian County coroner, said the men reported they had left a Kincaid tavern at 11 p.m. and had been driven to the Ranch Motel about a mile from Kincaid. Lingafelter returned to town with the driver and was last seen in a tavern at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Investigation as to how and why Lingefelter's body was stretched out on the highway is under way.

Lingafelter, Navy veteran, is survived by three sons, Allen Ray, Ricky Darrell and Joseph Robert; a brother, Larry of Grayville; a sister, Mrs. Tincie Wood, Grayville; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Lingefelter, Grayville; and a grandmother, Mrs. Tincie Rose of Metcalf.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Grayville Christian Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The body is at the Sturm Funeral Home.

Cause of death: Run over by automobile on Highway 104 near Taylorville at 2 a.m. He was buried in May 1962 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Grayville, Edwards Co., IL, Findagrave #109956249.

     Richard Ardell Lingafelter was also known as "Dell". He was born on 23 April 1865 at Crawford Co., IL. He was the son of James E. Lingafelter and Charlotte Helen Tyhurst. Richard Ardell Lingafelter died on 4 February 1951 at Crawford Co., IL, at age 85.

     Verlie Lingafelter was born on 1 March 1909 at Orange Twp., Crawford Co., IL. She was the daughter of Charles B. Lingafelter and Nellie May Hart. Verlie Lingafelter married Ernest LaVaughn Shaffner on 3 November 1935. Verlie Lingafelter died on 9 June 2002 at Casey, Clark Co., IL, at age 93.

     Verna Lingafelter was born on 26 November 1905. She was the daughter of Charles B. Lingafelter and Nellie May Hart. Verna Lingafelter married Carl I. Johnson.

     China Lee Lingar was born on 9 November 1885 at Claiborne Co., TN, per Tennessee 1951 delayed birth record, or 1884 per 1900 census.^2,1 She married King Madison Hall on 28 October 1905 at Campbell Co., TN. China Lee Lingar died on 5 November 1980 at Montgomery Co., OH, at age 94.

     Abraham Lingenfelter was born on 10 May 1796 at Virginia. He married Susannah Hagey circa 1819 at Huntingdon Co., PA. Abraham Lingenfelter died on 6 July 1886 at Licking Co., OH, at age 90.

     Allen Lingenfelter was born on 19 September 1893 at Nebraska. He was the son of David Cline Lingenfelter and Mary E. Gallagher. Allen Lingenfelter died in January 1935 at age 41.

     Anna Laura Lingenfelter died at Colorado. She was born on 9 November 1887 at Henry Co., IA. She was the daughter of John Francis Lingenfelter and Lucy Emma Micklewait.

     Bernice Lingenfelter was born on 20 March 1914. She was the daughter of John Thomas Lingenfelter and Louise A. Schreiner. Bernice Lingenfelter married LaGene Barnes on 12 August 1939. Bernice Lingenfelter died on 3 September 1964 at age 50.

     Bertha Lingenfelter was born on 1 July 1884. She was the daughter of Isaac R. Lingenfelter and Dora Sanders.

     Blanche Lingenfelter was born on 5 April 1910 at Pierce Co., NE. She was the daughter of John Thomas Lingenfelter and Louise A. Schreiner. Blanche Lingenfelter married Iver Carl Johnson, son of Harry George Johnson and Magdalene Vossberg, on 1 December 1934 at Madison Co., NE. She received her early education in rural Pierce county schools and graduated from Plainview High School in 1927. She attended teachers college at Chadron State and at Wayne State. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Wayne State. She was married to Iver C. Johnson December 1, 1934 in Madison County. She lived in Pierce County where she taught at several rural schools in Pierce County until 1957 when they moved to Columbus. While in Columbus she taught for Duncan Public Schools and the Columbus Public School System. Upon her retirement she continued to substitute teach. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She also belonged to the Eastern Star, Parent Teachers Organization, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Keystone Group, Womens Society, and the XYZ Club.

     Cecil E. Lingenfelter was born on 20 August 1916 at Bonaparte, Van Buren Co., IA. He was the son of Frederick John Lingenfelter and Marie Finette McComb. Cecil E. Lingenfelter married Joyce Johnson, daughter of Emil Johnson and Anna Lyons, in 1936 at Van Buren Co., IA. Cecil E. Lingenfelter lived on 15 April 1940 at Red Bluff Twp., Tehama Co., CA, Cecil and Joyce Lingenfelter were separated when the 1940 census was taken. Cecil and his son Robert were living with Cecil's parents and siblings. He began military service on 27 March 1942 WW II service. He ended military service on 28 October 1945; Discharged.      Charles Lingenfelter was born on 26 November 1891. He was the son of Isaac R. Lingenfelter and Dora Sanders.

     Charles Leslie Lingenfelter was born on 10 November 1881 at Henry Co., IA. He was the son of John Francis Lingenfelter and Lucy Emma Micklewait.

     Clare C. Lingenfelter was born on 20 August 1916 at Bonaparte, Van Buren Co., IA. He was the son of Frederick John Lingenfelter and Marie Finette McComb. Clare C. Lingenfelter married Mary Geneva Baker, daughter of Everett Calvin Baker and Edythe Pearl Dotson, in 1945. Clare C. Clare C. Lingenfelter, 90, of Red Bluff, passed away in Redding.

Clare was born in Bonaparte, Iowa to Fred and Marie McComb Lingenfelter. He was the eldest of identical twin boys.

When he was 3 years old his family moved to Red Bluff where they made their home for many years in the Dibble Creek area northwest of Red Bluff. He attended local schools and lived most of his life in Tehama County.

In November 1945, Clare married Mary Baker in Virginia City, Nevada. Mary preceded Clare in death after 51 years of marriage in December, 1996. Together they raised four children; sons Jimmie of Red Bluff, Stanley of Redding, William of Eureka and daughter Beverly Johnson of Red Bluff. Clare is also survived by his sister Mildred Williams of Red Bluff, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Also preceding Clare in death were his brothers Keith in 1984, Cecil in 1995 and George in 1959 as well as his granddaughter Nicole Lingenfelter in 1990.

Clare was in CCC when Shasta Dam was being built. He and his brother Cecil operated a service station in Red Bluff but for the most part he worked in the lumber industry retiring in 1981 from Paul Bunyan Lumber Company of Anderson, California.

Clare was an avid sports fan. He followed the local high school teams no matter what the sport was, going anywhere they happened to be playing. He could be seen in the bleachers at most games sitting along side his brother Cecil.

Clare will be greatly missed by family and loved ones but leaves us with many wonderful memories.

Funeral services for Clare were held at Chapel of the Flowers, Red Bluff, with J. Elmore Heitman officiating.

He was buried in May 2007 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA, Findagrave #19307970.

     Daisy O. Lingenfelter married John Allen. Daisy O. Lingenfelter was born on 23 February 1879 at Logan Co., IL. She was the daughter of David Cline Lingenfelter and Mary E. Gallagher. Daisy O. Lingenfelter died on 2 July 1955 at age 76. She was buried in July 1955 at Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery, Plainview, Pierce Co., NE.

     Dale K. Lingenfelter married Albers. Dale K. Lingenfelter was born on 11 May 1920 at Plainview, Pierce Co., NE. He was the son of George Washington Lingenfelter and Elsie L. Koester. Dale K. Lingenfelter died on 9 March 1997 at Plainview, Pierce Co., NE, at age 76.

     David Alan Lingenfelter was born on 3 December 1948. He was the son of George Bruce Lingenfelter and Louise Shermer. David Alan Lingenfelter died on 14 May 1954 at Paris, Logan Co., AR, at age 5. He was buried in May 1954 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA, Findagrave #11657723.

     Dennis Arden Lingenfelter was born on 12 April 1955 at Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA. He was the son of George Bruce Lingenfelter and Louise Shermer.
