He was born on October 7, 1942, in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Francis Lawrence and Leafey Lorraine (Hemphill) Macry.
David was born and raised in the area. He was a 1960 graduate of Leetonia High School then joined the US Navy for three years. After the Navy, he returned to the Salem area. He later moved to Brooklyn, NY where he lived with his family for twenty years before returning to Salem. David worked in various industries over his life and met many interesting people. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and for a short time in his career, he taught History at St. Paul's Catholic School. He had a very strong and diverse interest in sports. David was a huge Notre Dame football fan and also loved the NY Yankees, Cleveland Browns and the Montreal Canadiens. David was a very good golfer and enjoy playing with family and friends throughout his life. He also played baseball and participated in boxing matches while serving in the Navy. One of David's favorite hobbies was shooting pool and he even fulfilled his lifelong dream of managing a pool hall in Brooklyn, NY, after he retired. He was inducted into the Leetonia High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. He and his wife Pam lived a very quiet lifestyle. They did enjoy traveling to the Bahamas, Gatlinburg, Tenn., Toronto, Canada and especially visiting their children and grandchildren. David was a member of the Salem Italian-American Club.
David is survived by the love of his life of nearly 50 years, the former Pamela Ann Downing whom he married on August 21, 1971, his two sons and their beautiful brides, James "Jay" (Bettina) Macry of NJ., and Michael (Jennifer) Macry of NC., and his four grandchildren that he loved and adored so much, Paige, Benjamin, Madeline and Sabrina, his siblings; Toni Beeson, Joan (Scott Montgomery) Macry, Joseph Macry, and Donna (Charles "Ray") Queen all of Columbiana and Christopher Macry of Florida, brother-in-law, James (Marilyn) Downing of Salem.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Beeson.

Private services for the immediate family will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home.
