BRANSON S. MILLER
The body of Branson S. Miller, 83, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edmonson T. Wilson, 161 Arden road, Clintonville, from complications, Monday morning, will be taken to Newark, Ohio, his former home, for burial. Wednesday at 2 o'clock. He is survived by a son, J. R. Miller, a daughter, Mrs. E. T. Wilson, and three grandchildren. He was a member of the 78th O.V.I., Co. B. The body will be shipped to Newark, Ohio, for burial by the Glenn L. Myers Co.
He was buried in August 1923 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Licking Co., OH, Findagrave #65730679.
Note: Every online genealogy that shows his parents includes Branson S. Miller as a child of Corbin and Amanda (Fravel) Miller, however I have not found a single documentary record to substantiate this relationship. Neither the 1850 nor 1860 census shows a "Branson" in Corbin Miller's family (by 1860 he could reasonably have been working elsewhere). Instead, the next son after Felix in the Corbin Miller family, born about 1840-41, was listed as Lionel S. Miller, age 9, on the 1850 census and also listed on the 1860 census, age 19. Possibly Branson was originally named Lionel by his parents (Corbin had a younger brother named Lionel, born about 1837), and disliked the name so much he changed it as soon as he was able to do so -- no record after the 1860 census shows a Lionel Miller of the correct age, and no online genealogies show any later presence of a matching Lionel Miller. Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Born to Frederick and Thelma Miller
Married to Dr. James Wilson
Sons: Triplets, Abraham, Daniel and Noah.
Brothers: Thomas, Mark, and Daniel Miller.
Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Candy, as she was known to family and friends, was a remarkable woman. She found joy, fulfillment, and God's meaning in the simplest side of life, baling hay on a summer day, roasting hot dogs over a crackling fire, relishing the love of family on holidays and Sunday dinners, strolling quietly along a creek bank, watching the moon rice in a frosty fall sky. In these things and many others Candy showed the innocence and wonder that too often is left behind in childhood. It was her gift to remain awed and inspried by God's creation as an adult.
Educated, training, credentialed, and likely destined to be a nurse, Candy displayed an unparalleled work ethic and capacity for care-giving. During here 30 year nursing career, Candy worked in various departments in the hospital including Intensive Care, Emeregency Room and Transplant Unit. She served 20 of those years as Nursing Supervisor at Henry County Hospital. She showed tenderness for the most vulnerable, including the very young, the very old, and pets and animals of all kind. Candy was known far and wide for her reliability, steadfastness, and determination.
These were the qualities that made her ans extraordinary wife, mother, and sister. "The boys," as their mother often called them, came to be the defining element of Candy's life.
Candy was a devout Christian and a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ. And so the single life that touched hundreds of lives on earth rejoices in the better home awaiting, with those gone before. There she will wait for those of us to come.
Sr. Minister Ryan McCarty, Wayne Harting and Fred Harting officiating.

Catherine Miller was born on 6 December 1832 at Sharpsburg, Washington Co., MD.1 She was the daughter of Abraham Miller and Catherine Price. Catherine Miller married Elder David B. Puterbaugh, son of John P. Puterbaugh and Nancy Zuck, on 24 December 1857. Catherine Miller died on 10 October 1922 at Lanark, Carroll Co., IL, at age 89 "Mrs. Puterbaugh united with the Brethren in March, 1857. Her husband was called to the ministry in 1871. As the wife of a minister, as well as in every other Christian relationship, she was loyal and faithful until God called her to receive the waiting crown of life.
After her marriage, she and her husband lived on a farm near Lanark until the year 1888, when they moved to McPherson, Kans. They remained there five years, until, in 1893, they were called to Mt. Morris, Ill., to take charge of the Old People's Home just established by the Brethren. Here for five years they continued to minister to the needs of the aged and infirm of the church in a way that endeared them to all. In 1898 they returned to Lanark, where she has since lived.
About four years ago her eyesight began to fail and soon she became entirely blind. During the bereavements and afflictions of her later years, she was most tenderly cared for in the homes of her daughters in and near Lanark.
Thus closed the life of a mother in Israel, whose sweet disposition and beautiful Christian character will long continue to influence for good those who knew her." -- The Gospel Messenger, Nov. 18, 1922.1
