MARION SLACK RITES HELD
Funeral services were held Saturday for Marion Lee Slack, associated with the Sawdust Theater as a founder and a leader in and member of several community groups.
Mrs. Slack died March 9 in Portland. She was 51.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, a member and former president of the Coos Art Museum, member of the Friends of the Library and the Coquille Women's Club.
In 1978, Mrs. Slack received a Friend of Education award from the Coquille Education Association.
In addition to being a founder of the Sawdust Theater, she participated as an actress and set designer.
Her family moved to Coquille in 1941 and she had been a resident of Coquille ever since. Mrs. Slack attended the University of Oregon from 1948 until 1952 and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
She and Harry Slack, Jr. were married at Coquille on Aug. 2, 1953.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Lee Moore in 1966 and her father, John A. Moore, in 1971.
Surviving are her husband, Harry Slack, Jr., two daughters, Helen Lee Slack of Eugene and Caroline Slack of Coquille; a son, Joseph Allen Slack, of Eugene, and a brother, Wallace Lee Moore, Concord, Calif.
Father George Mackey of St. James Episcopal Church officiated at funeral services at St. James. Interment was at Masonic Cemetery in Coquille.
She was buried in March 1982 at Masonic Cemetery, Coquille, Coos Co., OR, Findagrave #9197705.
