Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Geo. W. Morrison, an old and respected citizen, died in this city, on Saturday, March 6, 1875, at the advanced age of 83 years.
Mr. Morrison was born in Loundon County, Virginia, Oct. 12, 1793. Was a soldier in the war of 1812 and 14, and while in this war received an injury at Baltimore, which caused him to be a sufferer and a cripple the balance of his life.
From early life he was a firm believer in the Christian religion, and for over half a century enjoyed a full and unshaken assurance of his acceptance with God.
Six months ago his faithful companion, with whom he had lived for nearly 60 years, passed on before to her reward, and on last Saturday morning he was permitted to rejoin her beyond the land of storm. His last illness was short, but the Master found him ready. A few hours before his death, he knelt in prayer by his bed and, but for assistance to rise, would have died in that posture.
The Olney Daily Ledger, March 11, 1875.
He was buried in March 1875 at Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, Richland Co., IL.
