FUNERAL SERVICES FOR M. MUNSINGER
Prominent Stockman and Farmer Died at His Home Just North of Tabor on Last Sunday

Myron Munsinger, 72, well known farmer and stockman, passed away in the early hours of last Sunday morning in the family home north of Tabor. Funeral services were held in the Reeves Funeral Home in that city Wednesday afternoon.

He was born Feb. 17, 1864, on the Munsinger homestead just north of Tabor. He was the third child of Joseph Munsinger and his wife Martha. They came in 1853, with early settlers, from near Oberlin, Ohio.

He attended public school across the road from the homestead, later finishing Tabor high school. He was also an alumni of old Tabor college. On November 28, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie M. Johnson of Malvern. They first made their home just south of the home place, where he continued farming and stock raising. To this union were born three children: Joseph Merrill, Charles Maurice and Elta Louise. Mr. Munsinger was a good father, a splendid provider, and devoted to his family.

In 1908 he moved to Wayne, Neb., with his family. There too he farmed and raised cattle. This was in the early years of Wayne State Normal, and he took a very active part in the affairs of this school. All his children were graduated from this institution. In 1920 he moved to North Platte, Nebraska, where he expected to make his permanent home. But three years later his brother and sister passed away, and since he was the oldest survivor he was called to take over the old homestead in Mills county. Although he was unable to perform much physical labor, he maintained a keen interest in farm and civic affairs to the last. He was well read and informed, never losing his interest in life. He was alert to the needs of society, and generous in spirit, always ready to extend a helping hand to the poor and distressed. He was a great lover of children, which had much to do in retaining his youthful vigor and interest in life.

Myron, as he was familiarly called, was well known over southwest Iowa because of his extensive cattle dealing 25 years ago. In partnership with Taylor Davis, he rode the countryside buying and selling cattle, and always put them into the pink of condition. In the early 1900 period, he took first prize at the Chicago Fat Stock show with a car load of black cattle. When failing health limited his activities, he kept posted on the markets, and through the medium of the radio and telephone kept his friends informed of the latest market conditions. His interest in political and municipal life never waned, and he never failed to voice his sentiments and work for what he felt was right.

Those surviving him are his devoted wife; his sons, Joseph Merrill, Tabor; Charles Maurice, North Platte, Neb., and his only daughter, Elta Louise Miller, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Also seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Newspaper not known. Mills County Cemetery book lists his death as 17 January 1937, buried Glenwood Cemetery.

He was buried in January 1937 at Glenwood Cemetery, Mills Co., IA.
