NOTE:
Obituary of Mehittabel (Andrews) Myrick

The Peoples Herald, Lyndon, Osage County, Kansas; Thursday, 30 JAN 1913, page 1 (Newspapers.com):

MRS. MEHITTABEL MYRICK

Mrs. Mehittabel Myrick was born in Vinton county, Ohio, March 30, 1841 and died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, January 20, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Ina Felch, North Lyndon, aged 71 years, 9 months and 20 days. Death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage, producing partial paralysis, and attendant complications. She was one of a family of nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. Eben E. Andrews and grew to womanhood in the county where she was born and where, when she was scarcely nineteen, she was united in marriage to Monroe Myrick on Feb. 2, 1860. By this union she became the gracious and sacrificing mother of six sons and six daughters, one of the former dying in infancy, the other eleven still survive her to mourn her loss.

Shortly after marriage, she with her husband and family moved to Polk county, Iowa, where they remained six years when they moved to Kansas in 1868, locating on a farm east of Lyndon, forty-four years ago, thus it it (sic) shown that Mrs. Myrick has been one of the sacrificing pioneer mothers whose industry, example and interest has made this section the desirable place in which we now live, blessed with schools, churches and a progressive civilization.

In her mature years, she was brought to a knowledge of the saving grave of a risen Savior and united with the Christian sect, retaining her membership therein till her death. She was a good neighbor, a true friend, a faithful wife and a helpful and indulgent mother. Her life’s companion preceded her to the World Beyond by nearly twelve years, passing away May 20, 1901.

Short services were held at the home of Mrs. Ina Felch on Wednesday morning, after which the body was taken to her old homestead where more formal and fitting observance in honor of the loved dead were conducted by Rev. F. E. Haughey of the Christian church. She was laid to rest in the Deaver Cemetery by the side of that of her husband, to the plighted vows with whom she had ever been true and faithful.

Those ministering to her needs and comfort during her last illness and present at the obsequies were Harvey Myrick of Springdale, Ark; Mrs. Mattie Goff of Cody, Wyoming; Vinton Myrick of Oakland; Mrs. H. S. Seyler of Lyndon; Chas. Myrick of Topeka; Albert Myrick of Tecumseh; Mrs. Gertie Bristow of Scranton; Clevelan Myrick of Lyndon and Mrs. Ina Felch of Lyndon. Those absent and unable to be present were the daughters, Mrs. Arvilla Morris of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Artie Hufford of Columbus, Montana. There also are four brothers and one sister who sorrow with those who lament her going. M. B. Andrews of Big Heart, Okla., was present at the obsequies.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the whole community in the loss they have sustained.

Ronald Edwin Myrick was born on 25 October 1940 at Los Angeles Co., CA; son of Lorin Albert and Irene Luella (Ward) Myrick. He lived between 1983 and 2014 at Paulden, Yavapai Co., AZ. He died on 16 February 2014 at age 73

Obituary -- (Findagrave.com Memorial #228849905):

RONALD EDWIN MYRICK
On the 16th of February 2014, at the age of 73, Ron was called to heaven. He died peacefully with his wife at his side.

Ron was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Oct. 25, 1940. He was the son of Irene Luella "Ward" Myrick and Lorin Albert Myrick. Ron's family moved from Los Angeles to Downey, Calif., when the children were young.

Ron attended Downey High School in California where he made lifelong friends in Jerry, Dennis and Jim. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 hoping to see the world. After his 3 1/2 years in the Navy, he had not seen enough of the world, so he traveled with his buddies to Europe for four months.

Upon his return from Europe, he went to work with his Uncle Harold and Aunt Margaret at a logging camp at Kennedy Meadows in Northern California. He also was an on-call volunteer firefighter.

After his parents died in a car accident, he moved to Lindsborg, Kan., an art community, where he learned glass-blowing, turning pottery, polishing rocks and his favorite, creating beautiful jewelry. Ron was able at this time to further learn and develop his own talents as an artist. He bought the Brunswick Hotel and tried his best, with the help of friends, to restore it.

He volunteered locally and was always available to help the town. Ron met people he would remember the rest of his life: the Espings, Holmquists, Elmquists, Bray, Heter and so many others. They helped him heal after the tragedy of losing his parents.

Ron also loved photography and always had a camera with him. He would go out fossil- and rock-hunting and belonged to the Prescott Gem and Mineral Club. His good friend Dave Smith would go out with him almost every week. He would photograph pictographs and Indian dwellings with his wife Jeanette and son Bryan at his side. He even got his beloved daughter-in-law Emily to go with them.

Ron had many interests and enjoyed every minute he had. He was well-read and read every night. He loved working with children and teaching them about fossils and rocks. He had a great personality and a great mind. We will miss his wisdom. He was very interested in astronomy and would set his camera to capture falling stars.

He loved talking with people and being with his family. He loved working on the 5 1/2 acres where he and his wife have lived since 1983. They planted 600 trees, and fenced the yard themselves. Ron taught his wife how to use a chainsaw; permits were obtained and off they went to cut posts. They cut their own firewood for many years. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and a grandfather for the first time on Jan. 18, 2013.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jeanette M. "Kefalas" Myrick of 34 years, but they had known each other for 57 years: They were 10 and 16 when he would visit her parents, who thought of him as their own son. He also leaves our beloved son Bryan E. Myrick; daughter-in-law Emily Ann "Briggs" Myrick; his 1-year-old granddaughter Milena Jean; brother Greg Myrick of Washington; sisters Diane Sebring and Linda Myrick of Utah; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Luella "Ward" Myrick and Lorin Albert Myrick; brother Lorin E. Myrick; and nephew Mathew Kenney.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Ron requested his son to take his ashes to the desert and mountains he loved so much and throw them to the four winds. We loved him so very much and he will forever be deeply missed.

Information provided by survivors.

He was cremated in 2014.
