Virginia N. Cesario, 77; was retired librarian

MONTEREY -- Virginia Naill Cesario, 77, of Blue Hill Road, a retired professor and librarian at City College of New York, died Dec. 28 at Willowood of Pittsfield. Born in Hanover, Pa., on Dec. 9, 1923, daughter of Richard and Lucy Fitz Naill, she received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of William and Mary in 1945, and a bachelor of science degree with honors in library science from Columbia University in 1947. Mrs. Cesario was employed as the circulation assistant at the City College Library, City University, N.Y., from 1947 to 1965; instructor and administrative assistant from 1964 to 1968; assistant professor and assistant chief librarian for public service from 1968 to 1975; associate professor and department librarian from 1972 to 1975; and professor and chief librarian from 1975 to her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the American Librarian Association, where she held various offices within the association. She was also a member of the AAUP, the Library Association at City University, N.Y., the American Society of Informational Science and the New York Library Association. Mrs. Cesario was a member of the New York Library Club, the ACLU, Archons of Colophon, Common Cause and Phi Beta Kappa. She bought her home on Blue Hill Road in the early 1950s and retired to Monterey permanently in 1978. She and her husband, Michael J. Cesario, whom she married Aug. 14, 1948, divorced in 1965. She leaves a brother, Richard Naill of Hanover, Pa.

City College Librarian

Professor Virginia Cesario of Fort Lee is the first woman to be appointed chief librarian and Library department chairperson at city College of New York.

A 1954 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, she received a bachelor's degree in library science in 1947 from Columbia University. Since joining the CCNY library staff in 1947, she has been head of the circulation division, chief supervisor of the reserve book section, and administrative assistant to the chief librarian. Her last assignment was acting chief librarian and library department chairperson.

Professor Cesario is a member of the American Library Association.

Margaret Elizabeth Nance Tyler, 93, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away April 11, 2015 at New Mark Care Center.
She was born in Stockton, Missouri on May 21, 1921 to Charles Claiborne and Mary Etta Hartley Nance.
She graduated Stockton High School in 1939, and pursued her education in 1940 at Draughn’s Business School in Springfield.
She married James L. Tyler Jr. in Fulton, Missouri on October 20, 1941, and from their union came four children. Janet Kay, Nance Elizabeth, James L. III and Daniel Joseph Tyler.
She enjoyed travelling, fishing, painting, tending her flowers, and all types of music. Margaret was also an avid ham radio operator, receiving her operator’s license and call sign of WBOJVQ in 1969, and was active for many years in local ham radio clubs and activities. Her pleasant demeanor and sense of humor endeared her to scores of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James L. Tyler Jr., her brother Charles Hartley Nance of Jefferson City, her daughter Janet Kay Tyler Wyller, and two grandsons, Grover Howard Mudd and Charlie Allen Mudd.
She is survived by her daughter Nance Elizabeth Koon of Kansas City, and two sons, James L. Tyler of Weston and Daniel J. Tyler of Kansas City, and four grandchildren: James Ketchum of Port Charlotte, FL, Debora Schauer of Flagstaff, AZ, and Jeffrey Steudler and Kathryn Tyler from Kansas City.
A visitation will be held 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. The family suggests contributions be given to Crossroads Hospice.

She was buried in April 2015 at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., KS, Find A Grave Memorial# 144934060.

Donald Oscar Narigon, the son of Virgil Oscar and Flossie (Brown) Narigon, was born November 16, 1934, at their home in Nodaway Township. Don entered eternal rest Saturday, January 18, 2020, at CHI Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years.

Don attended the Nodaway School and graduated with the Class of 1953. Don was united in marriage to Joanne Griffith on May 15, 1952. Four children blessed this union; David, Daniel, Douglas and Kathy Jo. Don and his family farmed in Adams County until 1962 when they moved to Red Oak. Don was then employed as an insurance agent with Farm Bureau and in 1963 he was promoted to agency manager for Ringgold County. He moved to Audubon County as agency manager for Audubon and Guthrie Counties.

Don and his family returned to Adams County in 1969 when they moved into Corning where Don worked in advertising and insurance. After his divorce, Don married Cheryl Johnson on November 27, 1976, and in 1977 they moved to the family farm in Nodaway Township. In 1983, they established the first pure bred herd of Gelbvieh cattle in Adams County. Cheryl passed away October 28, 2001. Their farm was recognized as a Century Farm in 2002.

Don was united in marriage to Mary Jane Pindell on November 16, 2002 in Creston, Iowa. They operated the restaurant in the club house at Sun Valley Lake from 2005 through 2008. Don and Mary Jane enjoyed their time traveling. They moved to Creston, Iowa, in February 2018.

Don was very active in community and civic organizations throughout his life. He served as a Republican Party Delegate to the County, District and State Conventions. Don was a Farm Bureau member all his life. He also served as a lay minister at the Nodaway United Methodist Church. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Don was known for his sense of humor and being a very positive person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Don’s memory are his wife, Mary Jane; children: David (Annette); Dan (Laurie); Kathy (Noel); Doug (Andrea); step-children: Connie (Patrick); Diana (Randy); Donna; Randy (Shelly). 23 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; siblings: Joe and Effie; many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Don in death were his parents; wife, Cheryl; mother of his children, Joanne; sister, Eleanor Newman.

He was buried in January 2020 at Nodaway Cemetery, Nodaway, Adams Co., IA, Findagrave #206374585.
