Clifford was born on March 22,1890. His parents were Robert Bentley Newell and Amanda Nancy Barnes. He was married to Eva Louella Wagner and they had five children Bonnie Louella Gross, Donald Newell, Kenneth Newell who died at 13 days old, Janet Briggs, Yvonne (Pudge) Young. Clifford died on November 7, 1966 at the age of 76. He was a loving and caring man who went out of the way to help anyone. Clifford also served in World War 1 and World War 2.

He was buried in November 1966 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shamokin, Northumberland Co., PA, Findagrave #132491804.

Harry Ellis NEWELL, son of Plimpton Kelly and Mary Elizabeth Morford NEWELL, was born November 24, 1901, on a farm south of Stafford, Kansas.

He departed this life January 28, 1964, at his home south east of Stafford, at the age of 62 years, 2 months, and 6 days. He spent his entire life in the Stafford community. At the time of his death he was engaged in farming.

He was united in marriage to Viola Ellen DUNN, on January 20, 1923. To this union three sons were born: Donald, Rexford, and Richard. Richard preceded him in death January 5, 1937.

He was a member of the Eureka Methodist church. He was an active member until his death. He was a devoted and loving husband, a loving father, and he was very devoted to his grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn: his devoted wife, Viola; Son, Donald and his wife, Dorothy, their four children, David, Donald, Dorothy, and Duane, all of Stafford. Son: Rexford, and his wife Audra, their children, Ben and Lynette of Liberal, Kansas. Brothers: Clare, and Ralph of Stafford, Raleigh of Santa Anna, California. Sisters: Stella HARGETT of Stafford, and Laura McFADDEN of Mullinville, Kansas.

His other, father, one brother, Glen, and son, Richard preceded him in death.

His passing is also mourned by many relatives and a host of friends that will miss his cheerful smile and pleasant disposition.

Services held at Peacock Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. January 30. Rev. Cautios Choate and Rev. Ralph Watkins, officiated. Interment in Stafford Cemetery.

A former Stafford resident, Mrs. Laura S. McFADDEN, 81, Mullinville, died Friday at Bucklin District Hospital.
She was born July 20, 1892, at Stafford and married Bennie W. McFADDEN on Nov. 18, 1914 at Stafford. He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1972.
She was a member of the Bon Tres Club and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mullinville, the Pollyanna Club and the United Methodist Church in Grensburg.
She is survived by sons, J. Wayne of Stafford and Arthur Wendell of Mullinville; brothers, Clare NEWELL of Stafford and Rawleigh NEWELL of Sacramento, Calif; sister, Mrs. Stella HARGETT of Stafford; four grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the united Methodist Church, Greensburg.
Rev. Harry C. Walz and Rev. Earl Ford officiated with graveside services conducted at the Stafford Cemetery by the Narcissus Chapter Order Eastern Star of Mullinville at 4:30 p.m.

Mada May Newell

     Mada May Newell was born on 20 June 1886 at Stafford Co., KS. She was the daughter of Richard Raleigh Newell and Sarah Margaret Young. Mada May Newell married Ira Boyd Rundell, son of Ira McChain Rundell and Susan Evelyn Boyd, on 17 November 1909. Death of Mrs. Ira B. Rundell

The sad news of the sudden death of Mrs. Ira B. Rundell, formerly of this city, but now of Pierceville was recieved here last week and came as a shock to her relatives and friends. She was ill only a few hours, when she was called to answer the final summons to that better home above.

Mada May NEWELL was the youngest daughter of Mrs. R. R. NEWELL. She was born near Stafford, Kansas, June 20, 1886 and died at her home at Pierceville, Kansas, May 4, 1921; age 34 years, 10 months, and 14 days. She was married to Ira B. RUNDELL of this city, November 17, 1909 and to this union four children - Boyd age 8 years, Thelma, age 6 years; Margaret, age 5 and the infant daughter, who went with her mother to the heavenly home - were born. Her father preceded her in death, having passed away five years ago.

Mada was well known in and around the city. Here she grew to womanhood and after completing her education at the country school, she attended the Stafford High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1906. She was converted when a child and joined the Eureka Methodist Church. Since that time she has lived a true Christian life, taking active part in church work. She was a teacher here in Sunday School before her marriage. When she and her husband went to their new home in Ford Co. she united with the Pleasant Valley church and served in the church and Sunday School in every way that she could. In 1916 they moved to Finney Co. and located near Pierceville. She took her church letter and immediately united with the New Hope church near them. She has been a S.S. teacher and S.S. Supt. and a general worked, besides being President of the Ladies Aid at the time of her death. Mada was a noble woman, enjoying the highest esteem of all, and she will be sadly missed in the home, the community and the church.

She leaves her devoted husband, one son, two daughters, her mother, Mrs. Sarah NEWELL, four brothers and three sisters - Pneumbra, Malvin, Hardin, and Brent NEWELL, Mrs. Minnie MINKS, Mrs. Ollie IRVINE and Mrs. Martha DAVIS, all of Stafford, Kans. - other relatives and scores of friends to mourn her early death.

Funeral services were held at the home in Pierceville, Thursday afternoon, conducted by her pastor. The body, accompanied by her husband and children and other relatives, was brought to Stafford that night and taken to the home of her mother, Mrs. Sarah NEWELL. Funeral services were held at the Eureka church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. S. W. Keller, the pastor. The many beautiful floral offerings, in their way, told of the esteem in which she was held. Interment was made in the Stafford Cemetery.
