John Casada Noel

M, b. 19 February 1848
John Casada Noel was born on 19 February 1848 at Trenton, Henry Co., IA. He was the son of Quin Martin Noel and Sarah Casada. John Casada Noel married Evangeline Munsinger, daughter of Charles Munsinger and Electa Northrup, on 29 January 1869 at Sidney, Fremont Co., IA, It appears that the marriage of John Noel and Evangeline Munsinger was possibly done secretly, inasmuch as they reported they were "single" in the 1870 census, and her surname was "Munsinger", when they were both living in the Charles Munsinger household. In the 1910 census, Evangeline reported six children born, five still living at that time.

John Casada Noel lived in 1880 at Longmont, Boulder Co., CO.1 Occupation: Carpenter in 1880 at Longmont, Boulder Co., CO.1
Note: Sydney Quin Noel wrote of his uncle, "John Casada Noel became an itinerant artist painting portraits and landscapes. Paintings of Quin and Sarah hang in the home of their son-in-law A.T. Rodgers, Beloit, Kansas. I have a landscape of Stampeding Wild Horses painted in Wyoming or Idaho in the 1880s - it's pretty good. J.C. Noel left home on or about 15 March 1887 from Longmont, CO - wrote to brother, Leonidas, saying he was leaving his family and going to California.

Jean Miller Noel wrote in 1974, she discovered two large old paintings hidden in the darkest corner of those eaves - Sarah and Quin Noel by John.

Joanne (Noel) (Miller) Knowles (Sydney's daughter), Redlands, CA, 3 Aug 1995: "I have the wild horse painting by John Casada Noel, which I treasure. When I worked at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, I had the painting restretched and cleaned in the conservation department. One of the technicians told me it was a 'fine' example of 'Prairie Primitive' painting. That was nearly thirty years ago and the painting looks very good today. My comment is that John C. may have left his wife and 6 (?) daughters but he certainly did not skimp in the quality of canvas and oil paints...."

Atkinson circa 1898. Maude Noel and John W. Atkinson were divorced. Maude Noel married Vergil Dishman circa 1904.
Note: Maude left John Atkinson about 1903 and ran off with Vergil Dishman. Perry was then approx 4 years old.

Perry left Missouri approx 1911. His dad took him to Montana ... apparently to hide him from Maude. Perry apparently did know Evangeline in his early youth.... but we have no idea how often they ever met.

1920 Missouri census shows Maude (Noel) Dishman age 39* (born Iowa). In 1920 living at 818 The Paseo, Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri with her second husband Vergil Dishman. Maude Noel lived in 1920 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. She died on 25 November 1968 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO.

(nee Knose) Noes. He married his high school sweetheart, Judith Kuhlmann, on November 22, 1961, and they were blessed with two children: Brad and Amanda. Bill’s greatest joys were his faith, his family, and his community. He loved Harrison, and he loved to serve his community to make it a better place for everyone. In school, Bill excelled at football, basketball and track, where he held records for many years. Once married, he and Judy raised horses and were 4H advisors. Bill was also instrumental in getting the first rubber track, helping the band get uniforms in the 80s, and creating the drama club at the high school. He also served at Love Inc. and was a member of the Odd Fellows and Legacy Christian Church. Perhaps one of his greatest honors was serving as a Harrison Township Trustee for 28 years.
