When the information in Benjamin's Manton Tribune obituary is considered, "... he made his home there until the fall of 1920 when he came to make his home on the farm in Caldwell", it becomes obvious that this was an elopement. NUTTER FUNERAL IS HELD TUESDAY
Caldwell Township Farmer Passes Away Following Illness With Scarlet Fever.
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon February 6th for Benjamin Franklin Nutter who passed away on Friday Feb. 3 at his farm home in Caldwell Township, at the age of 59 years, four months and 27 days.
Mr. Nutter was ill with scarlet fever during the Christmas holidays and from that time has been ill of various complications which came as a result of scarlet fever.
Born September 5, 1868 in Wells County, Indiana, he made his home there until the fall of 1920 when he came to make his home on the farm in Caldwell. He continued to live there until his death.
On October 5, 1920, he was married in Lake City, Michigan to Miss Effie Roll, a former neighbor in Indiana, and to this union were born four children, one of whom, Anna, preceded the father in death last June.
The widow and three children, Susie Mae, Benjamin, and Robert survive. He also leaves two sisters and two half brothers. All of these relatives excepting one half brother, Levi Nutter of Manton, live in Indiana.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, February 6 at one o'clock and at one thirty at the Caldwell Free Methodist Church, Rev. Chas. Carnahan officiating. Interment was made in the Caldwell Cemetery.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Shoemaker of Poneto, Ind., Mrs. Lenora Baker and three children of Indianapolis, Ind., Thomas Nutter of Warren, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Grant Barton and daughter of Monroeville, Indiana, Richard Rahrar of Greenfield, Ind., and Mrs. Paul Courtney of Poneto, Indiana.
He was buried in February 1928 at Caldwell Township Cemetery, Caldwell Twp., Missaukee Co., MI, Findagrave #123437156.
