The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Mary A. Stanfield, was a native of Baltimore Co. Maryland, born January 14th 1814, and died August 16th 1884. She spent nearly all of her life in Baltimore county, where she was well known and highly esteemed. In April 1881, she came to Boonsboro, Iowa, to spend the rest of her days with her children.
November 17th 1840 she was united in marriage with John Stanfield, of Baltimore county, Maryland, and for upwards of forty one years and until the time of his death August 1st, 1882, they lived most happily together.
Deceased lived in the enjoyment of a firm faith that she was an accepted child of God; She united with the old school Baptist church in early life and held her membership at the time of her death. Through a long life of three score years and ten, she was loved and respected by all who knew her, she was a kind and affectionate mother.
Deceased leaves three sons and one daughter with numerous relatives and friends who sincerely mourn her departure. The funeral took place August 17th from the residence of her son-in-law, J.A. Oler. Services being conducted by Rev. A.G. Forman, of Boonsboro Iowa.

CAMBRIDE (sic) -- Elihew Emery O'Dowd, 92, formerly of Byesville, died at 12:52 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1990, in the Guernsey Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born Jan. 30, 1898 in Cambridge, to Elihew and Mahala Ann Tittle O'Dowd.
Mr. O'Dowd is survivied by one daughter, Mrs. James (Madelyn) Scott of Zanesville; two sons, Paul O'Dowd of Elyria and Robert O'Dowd of Pinellas Park, Fla; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie C. O'Dowd, who died Nov. 8, 1975.
Calling hours will be observed 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, in the Scott Funeral Home in Cambridge, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Phillip Fletcher officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
