Irena Florence BATES, daughter of Abraham and Mary A. BATES, was born in Noble County, Ohio March 4, 1868. She died in Greene County, Indiana, November 20, 1900; aged thirty-two years, eight months and sixteen days.
She married Aaron KIDD, September 28, 1886, to whom she was a devoted companion and bore him five children, four sons and a daughter. Besides the husband and children, Mrs. KIDD leaves an aged father, two sisters and two brothers to mourn her untimely death.
About two weeks before her departure she professed a hope in Christ. Her last moments were radiant with victory. With evident assurance she said, “I am going home; glory to God. Weep not for me or those who have no hope. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”
The remains were buried at Newark, after a brief funeral service by the pastor of the M. E. church at that place.
She was buried in November 1900 at Newark Cemetery, Newark, Greene Co., IN.
