Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
ELLEN PEEBLER 1944 - 2011 Artist and gallerist Ellen Peebler's love affair with Santa Fe began during a winter visit to the city in 1974. Fifteen years later, she closed her southern California graphic design studio and claimed Northern New Mexico as her home, declaring the indigenous peoples and cultures of the American Southwest her muse. Although the region's unique natural light was a guiding force in her accomplished work as a painter, ceramist and stone carver, Ellen was forever drawn to the beach and the vast expanse of the ocean. Ellen and beloved longtime partner Jo Ann Reinhardt further enriched Santa Fe's artistic landscape through the opening of Gallery 822 on Canyon Road. "Look in the mirror," Ellen once wrote. "If there are questions you must ask, do not let your human sorrows speak back through a mask." Ellen wore no mask during her courageous battle with cancer, and although the world leaves time for sorrow in her passing, Ellen's partner, friends and loved ones celebrate her life, and honor the inextinguishable light she has added to theirs. Jo Ann Reinhardt invites friends and family to gather and remember Ellen at Gallery 822, 822 Canyon Road, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.
She was buried in 2011, location unknown -- Findagrave #203266415.
