Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Mildred Irene Plank was born on August 31, 1918 as the 3rd ( and last ) child of Mary (Barrett) & Marion Elmer Plank. She was born on the family farm located in Scotland Township, McDonough County, Illinois.
As a child, Irene developed a love for horses that would continue throughout the remainder of her life. She often stated that she was riding horses almost as soon as she learned how to walk. She rode to & from school every day & often volunteered to bring the dairy cows back to the barn for milking, if she could ride her horse in order to perform the task.
As an adult, Irene became active in all aspects of owning horses. Her husband had a new building with stalls, tack room and large arena buildt in order for her to keep & work her horses. She purchased, trained, showed & raised Registered Quarterhorses for many years. She received many trophies, ribbons and cash prizes with her beloved companions.
A love of the outdoors was the influence for Irene & her husband, Johnny, to purchase a camping trailor. Together they spent many happy hours camping with friends & family. During the latter part of her years, Johnny & Irene spent their winters in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by friends & some family members. She & her husband always enjoyed traveling and making new friends.
