     Jonathan Pitman was born on 20 August 1783 at Shenandoah Co., VA. He was the son of Johann Philip Bittmann and Susannah Crabill. Jonathan Pitman married Mary A. Hoover on 7 April 1806 at Shenandoah Co., VA. Jonathan Pitman died on 28 October 1829 at Shenandoah Co., VA, at age 46.

     Joseph Levi Pitman was born on 22 August 1858. He was the son of Levi Pitman and Rachel Windle. Joseph Levi Pitman died on 1 August 1863 at age 4.

     Martin Luther Pitman was born on 18 February 1854. He was the son of Levi Pitman and Rachel Windle. Martin Luther Pitman died on 25 October 1883 at age 29.

Pitman married Isaac Fisher, son of David Fisher and Susanna Juliana Snapp, on 16 March 1843 at Shenandoah Co., VA. Susan B. Pitman died on 12 July 1900 at Shenandoah Co., VA, at age 79.

     Victoria G. Pitman was born on 23 October 1865. She was the daughter of Levi Pitman and Rachel Windle.

     William Otterbein Pitman was born on 25 August 1850. He was the son of Levi Pitman and Rachel Windle. William Otterbein Pitman died on 15 September 1885 at age 35.

     Margaret Amanda Pitner married Frank Manly.

     Paul Arthur Pitt was born on 27 May 1917 at Lovelock, Pershing Co., NV; son of Irene Rasmussen and unknown Pitt. He married June Marie Craft, daughter of William Henry Craft and Anna V. Bockes, on 16 July 1943; An engagement of Paul A. Pitt to Miss Ora Alice Gipe was announced in the 7 JAN 1943 issue of the Oakland Tribune newspaper, page 23, but there was no date for the wedding. Apparently that did not come to pass. (Newspapers.com). Paul Arthur Pitt was buried in 2012 at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, Findagrave #103412540. He died in November 2012 at San Diego Co., CA, at age 95.

     Bessie Carol Pittenger was born on 26 December 1922.¹ She was the daughter of Ulysses Blaine Pittenger and Bessie Olive Davis.

     Ernest George Pittenger was born on 10 July 1884 at Delaware Co., IN.¹ He married Ocie Opal Green on 29 December 1910 at Delaware Co., IN, license date. Ernest George Pittenger died on 15 December 1977 at Dunkirk, Jay Co., IN, at age 93 Obituary (Fndagrave.com):

Ernest G. Pittenger, 93, formerly of 1600 W. Seventh St., died Thursday at Country Manor Norsing Home in Dunkirk.

Mr. Pittenger was employed at Durham Manufacturing Company prior to his retirement. He was a member of North Walnut Street Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Mrs. Marlene Patton, Albany, Mrs. Susan Covert, Homewood, Ill; his son-in-law Joe Morris, Muncie, and five great grandchildren. His wife Opal died in 1959 and his brother L. A. Pittenger, former president of Ball State University, died in 1953.

Services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. John D. Lepten pastor of North Walnut Street Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery near DeSoto.

Friends may call at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m. Friday and any time before the services Saturday.

     John Preston Pittenger was born on 15 November 1919.¹ He was the son of Ulysses Blaine Pittenger and Bessie Olive Davis. John Preston Pittenger married Elizabeth Dion on 16 October 1944. John Preston Pittenger died on 22 January 1987 at Mt. Morris, Ogle Co., IL, at age 67.²

     Kenneth Davis Pittenger was born on 3 November 1912.¹ He was the son of Ulysses Blaine Pittenger and Bessie Olive Davis. Kenneth Davis Pittenger died in August 1975 at age 62.²

     Leonard Wayman Pittenger was born on 29 August 1914 at Muncie, Delaware Co., IN. He was the son of Ernest George Pittenger and Ocie Opal Green.¹ Leonard Wayman Pittenger married Martha Ellen Moore, daughter of Joseph Labon Moore and Jessie Charlene Smith, on 18 November 1940 at Indiana, license date. Services for Leonard W. Pittenger, 54, 1808 Riggin Rd., will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Lewis W. Gishler officiating. Mr. Pittenger died at his home Tuesday.

He was a native of Delaware County, the son of Ernest G. and the late Opal Green. Pittenger attended DeSoto Elementary School and was graduated from East High School, Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Pittenger was a partner in the Nelson-Pittenger Tool and Gauge Co. before becoming president of Pittenger-Wise Corp. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge 245, Delaware Lodge of Masons 46, Scottish Rite and Shrine at Fort Wayne, and the Delaware Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Moore Pittenger; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Covert, San Pedro, Calif; his father Ernest G. Pittenger, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Morris, both of Muncie.

Friends may call at the mortuary from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight and prior to services Thursday.

     Louise Pittenger was born on 17 December 1821 at Ohio.¹ She married Charles S. Palmer.¹ Louise Pittenger died on 2 December 1893 at age 71.

     Ulysses Blaine Pittenger was born on 20 November 1879.¹ He was the son of William Dorsey Pittenger and Elizabeth Alleman. Ulysses Blaine Pittenger married Bessie Olive Davis, daughter of William D. Davis and Susan Coffman, on 12 December 1911.¹ Occupation: Printer, Mt. Morris, Illinois in 1926. Ulysses Blaine Pittenger died on 3 July 1961 at Mt. Morris, Ogle Co., IL, at age 81.

     Vernie Mae Pittenger was born on 2 April 1916.¹ She was the daughter of Ulysses Blaine Pittenger and Bessie Olive Davis.

     William Dorsey Pittenger married Elizabeth Alleman.

     Winston Blaine Pittenger was born on 9 March 1915.¹ He was the son of Ulysses Blaine Pittenger and Bessie Olive Davis. Winston Blaine Pittenger died in June 1986 at Mt. Morris, Ogle Co., IL, at age 71.²

     Andrew Pittman was born circa 1832 at Harrison Co. (probably), IN.¹ He was the son of David Pitman and Catherine Edelman.² Andrew Pittman married Elizabeth Conrad, daughter of George Conrad and Nancy Wiseman, on 21 December 1852 at Harrison Co., IN. Andrew Pittman died on 25 May 1915 at Nehawka, Cass Co., NE. He was buried in May 1915 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Nehawka, Cass Co., NE.

     Andrew B. Pittman was also known as "Pete". He was born on 15 April 1893 at Harrison Co. (probably), IN.¹ He was the son of Charles Wilbur Pittman and Regina Frances Haas.¹ Andrew B. Pittman married Adelaide Susanne Volkmann, daughter of Frank F. B. Volkmann and Lydia Emma Ferdinand. Andrew B. Pittman died on 30 July 1967 at age 74. He was buried in August 1967 at Rosemound Cemetery, Medford, Grant Co., OK.

     Arnold Hey Pittman was born on 30 January 1945 at Memphis, Shelby Co., TN. He was the son of William Lamar Pittman and Elizabeth Hey. Arnold Hey Pittman died on 10 May 2012 at Memphis, Shelby Co., TN, at age 67 Obituary (Findagrave.com):

Arnold Hey Pittman, 67, died on May 10 in Memphis, Tennessee after a prolonged illness.

Arnold was born on January 30, 1945 and grew up in Milan, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Hey Pittman, and by his father, William Lamar Pittman.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Nichol Pittman, originally of Nashville, whom he married in 1974, his daughter, Joy-Elizabeth Nichol Pittman, and his brother William Lamar Pittman, Jr. of Milan.

Arnold graduated from Milan High School and received his B.A. from Rhodes College (formerly named Southwestern at Memphis) in 1967. During his college years he was team captain of the Rhodes golf team. The team won College Athletic Conferences titles in 1964 and 1967. He was also inducted into Rhodes' Athletic Hall of Fame. While at Rhodes, he was president of Interfraternity Council and president of ATO fraternity. He was tapped for Omicron Delta Kappa, an honor society based on leadership and service.

After graduating from college, he joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Memphis. He was vice-president of marketing at this not-for-profit company until 1980, when he founded Pittman and Associates, an employee benefits firm. Pittman and Associates grew to become one of the region's most successful health insurance claims administrators.

In 1974, he was an original partner in the Half Shell Restaurant, and he has continued as an active investor over the last 38 years. Arnold and his wife have resided in Memphis for over forty years, and have been members of Idlewild Presbyterian Church since 1974.

Arnie had a lifelong love of golf and was an avid sportsman and hunter throughout the West Tennessee region. When his daughter's sport became horse show competition, he traveled constantly with her during her teenage years throughout the South, happily functioning as the attentive groom for her horses. He also was president of the West Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association for many years.

He has been a board member of the James Hyter Scholarship Foundation since its inception.

He is predeceased by his grandparents. His paternal grandparents were Cecil Lee Pittman and Minnie Elizabeth Pittman of Cades, TN. His maternal Grandparents were Arnold Fredrick Hey and Ollye Melissa Murphree Hey of Hughes, Arkansas.

He is survived by his nieces, Meghan Federico of New Orleans, Lisa Pittman Cleary of Hendersonville, TN and Amy Nichol Wood of Knoxville, TN, and his nephews, Matthew William Wood III of Chattanooga, TN; Michael Pittman of Cleveland, TN and Michael Federico of New Orleans, LA.
