Services for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Myers, 89, of 3034 NW 30, a pioneer Oklahoma resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. She died Friday in Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Webster County, Mo., and came to Oklahoma with her husband in a covered wagon in 1898. A former resident of Pawnee and Purcell, she moved to Oklahoma City more than 50 years ago. She was a member of American War Mothers, Chapter 4, where she belonged to the Circle 14 group.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe Leverich, 3036 NW 30; three sons, S.E., Enid, William, Norma, and Elmer, Purcell; and four sisters and five brothers, all of Marshfield, Mo.

She was buried in March 1966 at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK, Findagrave #37338488.

Edward S. Popiel, 87, formerly of Chester, a self-employed businessman and veteran of World War II, died Jan. 16 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland.

Born, reared and educated at Chester, Mr. Popiel resided in the city his entire life before moving to the Folsom section of Ridley Township three years ago.

He served four years in the Army with a commando unit known as Merrill's Maurauders in the Burma Campaign during World War II.

Mr. Popiel was a self-employed businessman who owned and operated several enterprises in Chester. He was a longtime member of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church.

Mr. Popiel was the son of the late Albert and Mary Bojas Popiel. He was the widower of Martha Orlowski Popiel, who died in 2001. He was the brother of the late Joseph Popiel.

Survivors: Daughters, Martha Shaum of College Station, Texas, Eleanor Barton of Midland Park, N.J., and Susan Larson of McLean, Va; sister, Stephanie Perrin of Glenolden; three grandchildren.

Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Fourth and Hayes streets, Chester.

Visitation: 3-5 p.m. Saturday and 8:30-9:15 a.m. Sunday, Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 2316 Providence Road, Chester.

In their marriage record, Maurice's wife is listed as Martha Porath. Martha's sister was Amelia Porath. In 1905 Amelia married Charles E. Meyers. Charles died in 1912 and Martha died in April of 1917. About a month later Maurice married the widow, Amelia (Porath) Meyers.
